After one basketballloss, he told seven different guys they would start the next game! We knew we had a chance when we start 7 on 5!!

Don't mean to step on toes, but math is math

I had the misfortune of working my arse off to make the basketball team and getting cut by McKinney.
Lord have mercy he was brutal in practice. I remember having to run the gym 75 times one night after a particularly shitty practice.
I think I got home at 10pm that night

had it in his office and at St. Francis for babies with extreme diaper rash. Shite worked like a miracle. My grandmother was one the head nurses at St. Francis and she would often times refer to this magical creme as Dr. Talbots Butt Paste.
I was a pharmacy tech at St. Francis during pharmacy school & remember compounding Dr. Talbot’s butt paste.

My dad started out as a meter reader at LP&L. I remember him parking his truck with that logo at our house as a child. He retired from entergy and hates that company.
Most of the other pictures were taken way before my time, but still ring a bell or two
The picture of West Monroe’s stadium is almost unchanged from that angle and is close to where I parked my senior year of HS.
I’m old enough to know what Howard Griffin’s land of toys is through my parents, but never experienced it. I believe they sell bass boats out of that building now.
I think this is the place:
It’s cool to see the pics of the Eastgate shopping center. It’s been a dump since I was a kid. Good to know it had a heyday.

That’s the pool at Forsythe, took swimming lessons there as a kid. It was on the downhill slide even then. Drove by there a couple of months ago and it looked deserted. Forsythe park was where I met my wife for the first time. Her sorority was hosting a 5k there.

In 93 my high school band stayed at the Holidome, there was a 50s style bar in there that we snuck in, I think it was called Bobby Socks.

Here's Hardlucy's little ode to Monroe. Some of y'all might get a kick out of it. Matt was a prick, but they made some good music

The late Olin Hall only had 11 floors.

You are correct and I am sorely ashamed to have missed that

Anyone read this novel? It takes place all around Monroe using the real names of places.
Unfortunately I didn't really enjoy it because the author was clueless about when different places were built so it kind of ruined the story. Wish he had actually done 10 minutes of research in the library or spoken to someone who lives here to make it more convincing.

Often over looked in memories of Ray's is getting a mixed cone at the walk up window outside. Don't know how they got the vanilla that color of yellow... And not sure I want to, but nothing has ever compared. I'll bet I ate over a thousand of those things walking back to my house when we pretty much roamed the whole neighborhood all day long. The original latch key generation.

product of Mr. Minifield.
the GOAT was of course Joel Rundell RIP
i think that album had literally come out the week before and none of us had any idea who that was.
he was the original spicoli; wearing checkboard VANS to school in the late 1970s
eta He gives Minifield a shout-out in the song!
JESUS Just mentioned Danny Amos.
"Valerie played clarinet" <-- that was Valerie Thrash
Sir Duke <--- Minifield's OPUS. He whipped us into shape playing that song. We didn't miss a note.
