anyone remember searching for the '1 million quality stamps' giveaway on FM102 and tearing up the area around the airport trying to find them?

i think the guy who 'won' found it taped to the back of one of the traffic signs at the airport.

Damn, didn't think they actually had employees working in there anymore. There isn't but maybe 5 cars in the parking lot every time I pass. I remember being at the ribbon cutting when the building first opened in the mid 90s. (Grandfather was an SVP there for years initials K.C.) Have you heard what they are going to do with it when they leave in 2025?

As the story goes, Ole Judy Waggoner got busted sleeping with somebody's husband off Island Drive. Wife came home unexpectedly and Judy had to bail leaving everything behind.

I think that was a very common occurrence.

It was fun to play there after they re -did it. It used to be the definition of goat ranch prior. I started playing at Muni in 4th grade. My grandmother lived on K Street by Neville so I would walk there with my clubs. Took lessons from Johnny Myers but honestly learned the game from an old guy that used to practice by the hole closest to Parkview Church. His name was Frank Walker. In high school we almost lived at Muni. That was an interesting group of guys that hung out there every afternoon. Played Chennault a bunch and the old 9 hole course over in West Monroe and then went to work at Chennault for years in college for Led and then at Bayou Desiard CC. I fit in a like a sore thumb since I was a little to big to be a really good golfer but I did love the game and still do.

I know who this was. Considering all these folks are still around I shall remain quiet. Even posting the initials would be too obvious.

Forsythe is not my favorite. Too small. Chennault is still a bunch of fun. Frenchmans and Bayou Desiard are still the best courses around town

Was that her? Diane Cage (RIP)came home and busted her ex-husband with a chick when we were in high school. She took off on foot. I am not saying no names here but a guy I went to school picked up said female running buck naked by Triangle Park and I am pretty sure like almost 100% this family lived either on Island or Country Club.

It wasn't uncommon. There once was a morning DJ who liked platinum blondes...

Trianon Lounge, before it was Sal's, owned by Mike Haddad and Henry was the bartender.

Electric Circus, Dynasty Lounge, Red Dog Ball Room, owned by Smitty Smith.

Edith's Grill.

Mariana's, she was a huge supporter of NLSC, NLU, and probably ULM. Fed a lot of students for free over the years.

Clyde's Seafood on Winnsboro Road, all you could eat on Wednesday night, $2, until we forced them to change policy.

Johnny's had a sign up at the first location across from Northeast "Smallest Pizza Chain in the World".

Frenchman's is just too easy. I do love BD CC. Great course and brings back a lot of memories when I play. We used to do some crazy shite out there. Almost like Caddyshack level stuff and the greatest thing was playing it for free every afternoon. Almost made up for only making like $4/hour. I can't believe we didn't get fired from doing the dumb shite we used to do out there.

To be fair, Squire is the best in the area unless you want to make the drive to El Dorado and play Mystic.

I worked at Town and Country Pharmacy while I was in college. Mike was the best. I remember opening the coke machine and charging candy and a coke to kids walking home from school. Good times.

Damn, 30+ years later and we finally learn the identity of the phantom streaker? This thread is delivering in spades. Thanks OP. Really, thanks. Bringing back a ton of memories for me.

On a serious note, I feel for the Snellings family. I honestly can't even fathom....Like it hurts to type.

I am guessing you are Northside as well? I graduated from Neville in '90.

Guilty.

Can't tell you how many times Mike let me charge a coke and $100,000 candy bar.

Sometimes I'd be really bad and grab a balsa wood airplane too.

I figured it was my due for having to ride my bike to the pharmacy on Saturday to buy my mom some L'eggs.

Alright since this thread is full of Monroe people I’m gonna go ahead and ask the question…

Opinions of Johnnys?

Full disclosure, I thought it was the most overhyped thing on the face of the earth
