He did claim to play football for the U of Delaware, but he claims a lot of things that never happened.

Not so fast. Early on in the conflict, many of us would have proudly served. It wasn't until about the time Red Jane was pulling her commie shite that MOST of America came to realize what a clusterfrick Vietnam was, and our government wasn't being completely truthful with civilians NOR the young men on the front lines.
