If you get to Kiev again, look up Serge Tiagniryadno and tell him you are a "friend" from the USA, and that my friend Roman Vorobyev sent you, and he will take care of you. Might be good to know if you have to leave where you are in a hurry.

Also, one of his real life friends is the beauty in my sig pic below, if y'all demand pics, but she is Russian.

What food do they eat? Goulash?

Isaw crab flavor popcorn, bacon flavor chips in the groceries today.

We had meat jello, fish egg sandwiches, sausage and cheese, olives, soup and pineapple/corn/mayonaise salad for dinner the other night. With whiskey and coke no less.

Borsch is the national soup here.

There is a reason you don't see a lot of Ukrainian and Russian restaurants in the USA. Lol

What are the sentiments of the local populace? Pro Russian or Pro Ukrainian?

‘Dated’ someone from Ukraine once. Both her parents were Engineers and they were not even middle class over there. She could guzzle vodka like someone would a Gatorade after cutting the yard in 95 degree heat. Told me in many parts of Ukraine or Russia vodka is cleaner and safer than the drinking water. Told me her first drink of vodka was when she was 7 years old

I don't think you are exaggerating either. I know a couple of engineers here and they don't have much. The Vodka doesn't surprise me either. Most Ukrainians drink, they don't all drink heavily though. Alcohol is very socially accepted and even expected if you have guess. Dinner is interrupted by several shots and a toast. One bite meat jello, one bite fish egg sandwich and one shot of Vodka is how I spent my first Dinner with the in-laws. I fought off the urge to puke, while the 100 year old grandmother kept hitting me with more shots.

Thanks for sharing. This is very interesting and more informative than ten news programs.

Lol. They like their addidas track suits and cognac here.

They have a lot of beautiful women here and no they are not hairy.

The great thing is they are low maintenance. I met my wife on Match.com. Her Aunt who lives in Miami, actually ran her profile, trying to find her an American husband.

I find the Ukrainian men, nice and fun to hang out with. A lot of them however are not what you would call top notch husbands. Getting drunk, talking down to your wife, hitting them and having a mistress are not uncommon here. That certainly doesn't apply to all of the men here, but enough.

The women here can be very appreciative of just finding a husband that treats them with respect.

So you’re (presumably) an American man who married a Ukrainian chick in a mail order bride type situation and you moved to her shithole country instead of her living here?

On a funny note. Two things my wife found amazing in America were microwave popcorn and electric garage door openers.

I have enjoyed traveling in Eastern Europe. I also enjoyed Russia. Have never been in Ukraine. Have been on a train through Belarus from Russia to Poland, Hungary, etc.
The one thing that I personally did not really every enjoy was the cuisine. This could very well be because I did not get the homemade stuff and did not know what to order. Pretty sure I was served cow tong in broth one day when I was expecting a steak.
