I absolutely love the Hamilton Soundtrack and so glad I could finally afford to take my daughter to see it a year ago. And seeing as I can whip most of your asses while singing "The Room where it Happens", that makes you judgey poons worse than gay.

Keep that up and I’m going to start inviting you to Broadway shows in Baton Rouge

Heard some grown man singing pink pony club in the bar last night. Unreal.

I wouldn’t make it through a minute of Hamilton.

The story and the music is good. Sorry some of you aren’t comfortable enough in your own masculinity to enjoy nice things.

All OT gay perv aside, I've seen Rent 3 times, once on Broadway.

But Hamilton was my favorite and I'll go see it again sometime before it goes away.

Wife and (14) daughter went Friday night. They went to Johnny Sanchez, then had girls night at a hotel. My daughter didn't know why they were going to New Orleans until my wife pointed at the sign. (Birthday surprise) They said the show was good, though the Angelica actress and the Burr actor were subpar.

I’ve seen Rent at the Saenger and in BR, never on Broadway. Definitely a product of its time, but a good show nonetheless. As for Hamilton, I don’t see it going away anytime soon. At least for now, it looks like it has Wicked/Lionking-esque staying power.

But speaking of modern musicals, if you get the chance to see Waitress, I think you would enjoy it. Probably my favorite musical of the last decade.

I don’t see anything like that which subverts historical fact solely for the purpose of wokeism.

Haven’t seen that one. But Book of Mormon is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. I think I’ve seen it 4 times now and it still cracks me up.

Book of Mormon is great. Saw it last year when it came through Baton Rouge. I might be missing something, but I started keeping a list of shows I’ve seen in person, just for easy reference, though I’ve seen a few others on video, Hamilton included:

American in Paris
Wicked
Phantom of the Opera
Rent
Fiddler on the Roof
Waitress
Stomp
Beautiful
Respect
My Fair Lady
Hairspray
Jesus Christ Superstar
Mean Girls
Book of Mormon
Come From Away
Shrek
Tina
Chicago
Pretty Woman

The plot of Hamilton isn’t really that woke, but pretty much the sole appeal of the show is how black people play all the characters.

That’s not even in the same zip code as a list of primary appeals of the show, much less being the sole appeal

Eta: And I have no idea what the current cast looks like, but the original cast wasn’t close to being exclusively black

I don’t know if I would call those third tier as much as I would call them out of fashion. Several of them are classics.

That’s a good list. I would suggest seeing Aladdin. Saw it on Broadway and went in thinking, “the genie will be disappointing compared to an animated Robin Williams.” Needless to say, I was wrong and the genie was downright amazing. Better than Lion King IMO.

Also, it’s not a play, but Six is really really good. Wife (no pics) brought me to see it. I had no idea what it was about when I walked in the theater, but the music is great. It’s on my workout playlist for the gym.

Jackson only has the population to support one or two nights, and that is all we got. Bigger cities like New Orleans and Memphis get the popular shows because they can run them one to two weeks.

Now if someone would just bring back Oh Calcutta
