I am going to court (again) in about 2 weeks. Ex wants more money. But she makes way more than me. I countered to get more time with my daughter. I currently get 10 nights a month. Filing for equal time. I currently pay her 600$ a month and provide health insurance. Should settle this debate for y'all. Wish me luck. Gonna probably be really ugly.

it's not family law's fault that a glass ceiling and gender pay gap exists

Women pay child support all the time. My niece's husband's ex pays.

No, it's not. Custody is slanted in what is in the best interest of the child, and support is based on the standard of living and the relative income of the parties

Yet courts for the most part think that, as long as the mom is stable, being with her is in the kid's best interest. Even today, men are more often bread winners so that works against them when it comes to spousal support. At first glance the law seems objective but societal norms/tendencies most often lead to the same result: Mom with custody and dad paying child support, and spousal support. it is what it is.

Yes it is. If I'm not mistaken custody reverts automatically to the wife and then the husband has to present a case to get custody.

My God, do MRA lunatics really believe this shite?

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

The bigger problem is where are the amounts coming from? Why are child support and/or alimony based on the income of the person paying? If it's truly "support" for the child then shouldn't they have a rough idea of the cost of raising a child in any given state and use that? It doesn't cost anywhere close to $16k a month to raise a child.

I agree with all of this.

Damn, that sucks. They actually got to see their Father every other weekend. I really feel for your friend.

You can't make this statement before seeing what the average child support payments are for male celebrities with >60M net worth.

Well her oldest 3 kids were recently all killed in a car accident. The very weekend he was supposed to have the kids.....yet again he pawned them off on his parents so he could party. Cops couldn't even reach him to tell him the news cause he was off somewhere drunk instead of having his kids with him.

So she never has to pay her ex a penny again.

Say baw, you do know white knighting on the OT does not actually get you any headway with females and only makes you look like the beta bitch you are? For every instance you find like this, one could find 50 more supporting the opposite.

ETA: Changed the bench to bitch. Gotta love auto-correct.
