I'll remember this incredibly rare anecdote the next time, for sure.

In the late 80's the court ordered my dad to pay my mom (custodial parent) $250 a month for 2 kids. WHICH SEEMS INSANE!!! I asked my mom why she never went back to the courts to get more money. She said she never even thought about it; my dad was always there and paid his fair share through activities and medical bills, etc. I know I'm one of the lucky ones.
I think what some of us are trying to say is that every family is different, every situation is different. The courts should be allowed to make judgements based on the participants and the facts, logical judgements. Not these set-in-stone formulas that, through societal norms or laws or whatever, disproportionally make the father out to be the bad guy. Of course the kids don't want to go visit dad, he lives in a one bedroom apt because he pays 80% of his paycheck a month to mom (who rarely has to prove where the money goes...). and of course there are exceptions, on this very site i've read wonderful stories of true 50/50 parenting, with custody and money. but that's a relatively new arrangement, i think. but a great step in the right direction.
ps, i'm not bitter, i don't have kids and never been married, I just grew up in a situation that lots of divorced families don't have and I'd like to see the playing field leveled.

I am going to court (again) in about 2 weeks. Ex wants more money. But she makes way more than me. I countered to get more time with my daughter. I currently get 10 nights a month. Filing for equal time. I currently pay her 600$ a month and provide health insurance. Should settle this debate for y'all. Wish me luck. Gonna probably be really ugly.
never even been married but this pisses me off. Give her hell

I work for a Fortune 500 company. We have a black janitor who moved all the way up to manager. Despite him being the only minority that works beyond custodial positions for us, Remember this when you say that white people hold the advantage in the workforce.

Why don't you respond to my post in this thread?
How does this compare to the child support payments of male celebrities with >60M in net worth?
Posted on 6/10/14 at 1:33 pm to JohnnyKilroy
I can't respond because I really have no idea how it compares.
I was just commenting that it is not gender-based; it is income-based.

Well a gender bias would certainly seem to exist if similarly situated males have to pay significantly more on average.
