Not there anymore. There was an issue. I’ve visited San Fran where we watched a homeless guy shooting up as we rode the double decker bus through the Tenderloin. I’ve been to NO many times. Somehow what they have going in Austin takes the cake

According to a lady who was homeless
Liberal policies make Austin a magnet for homeless people.
Moderate to warm climate
No vagrancy laws.
Great city parks with huge restrooms including showers.
UT
Ultra liberal

It's going on between different municipalities and counties so not sure how it's on Adler unless you think he should just toss them all into the Colorado River.

State gov is fine with the situation as it promotes propaganda like you're seeing in this thread. Sad but typical.

The mayor and city council “Gregorio Cazar “and the rest of the left wing loonies have done everything they can to make Austin just like Portland or Seattle. Instead of saying no you can’t sleep and crap on the sidewalks . They are actually spending millions on motels to let the homeless live in so they can be close to downtown.

Too embarrassed to say? Not surprised. I’m going to guess that even though you talk shite about Austin, you can’t afford to live there.

Wonder if they’re going to remain high after COVID-19 and economic headwinds.

I mean Portland and Seattle are pretty fantastic cities

Austin used to be great but it sold it's soul years ago.

Austin is a horrific city. If I were considering moving there for a career, I’d reconsider. Yeah, job market is good, but they have a dem mayor. Beautiful natural features there, but homeless people. Again, if it were me, I’d go to another city that’s perfect and not waste time in the capital city of Texas.

It is definitely an issue. As someone wrote earlier, it's a function of liberal government, being a "cool" city and having an expansive park system (think the Shoal and Barton Creek greenbelts).

They are killing people downtown and (one) on the UT campus. State employees have to be escorted by state troopers inside their place of work for fear of being assaulted.

It's a problem everywhere, though. Most cities and towns have major homeless and illegal alien loitering problems. As long as you acknowledge that, we're golden.

It is objectively not.

Tallulah is horrific
Raceland is horrific

Austin used to be really good an now is less good. And the reason it's less good is not for the reason people like you think

You people that hate Austin have either not spent much time here or just run with stuff you read here, and elsewhere that shits on it.

I live in the Northern suburbs, and I’m not the worlds biggest Austin fan...but the city actually has a ton going for it (in spite of the Dems and homelessness).

The city itself...let’s take out politics...has come so far over the last 15 years and is better for losing its “weirdness”. Taking COVID out of the equation - the economy is great, food is amazing, lots of outdoor activities, things to do, etc. Yes, it’s expensive to live here and traffic sucks...but you have to take the good with the bad.

Austin is a great city -- if you have money.

It wasn't always like that, though. And that's a shame.

trending more and more toward being a smaller version of Houston or Dallas is not a strength.
