Been saying this for a long time. The entire city is south of the interstate. Everything is surface streets and stop lights. There's no quick way to gst anywhere. Its awful for a city that size.
It's layout is completely incomprehensible and illogical too. And you have to rely on the handful of major roads to get anywhere with minimal secondary routes
It's like Baton Rouge without the grids and no interstate to use.

You quoting California traffic signs tells me you're a retarded pussy.

I've never seen people drive more aggressively and with blatant disregard for traffic flow. Even in BR.
You’ve obviously never been on the 610 loop in Houston on a Friday night around 7ish. Nor have you traveled 10W between Anahuac and Baytown around the same time frame. If you had, you’d redefine your terms.

Lafayette's NIMBY game has been historically strong
The city's roads are laid out according to the vermillion "river" and there's like 3 bridges in the city because nobody wants on in their backyard.
Almost all neighborhoods are cul-de-sacs leaving no connecting options.
They heard I-49 was going to be built so the insiders bought up all the property and have held it hostage for decades.
The exits off of I-10 have not been updated since the 1960's, but the traffic has increased 100000X
State highways - 90, Johnson, and others criss cross the city. The city has a "it's not my problem/funding, it's the state's problem" attitude towards these roads.
Somebody's brother in law runs the red light synchronization program. But if that wasn't bad enough, because of the city/state issue - redlights cannot be syncronized properly due to differing laws.
Country people flood the town to shop, and they get nervous or have zero idea how to just drive predictably and be traffic. Of course they all have F-350s, and they inevitably find the Nissan Sentra driver and run over their rear.
In Baton Rouge, I-10, I-12, Airline, Essen, Perkins, all jam up and it's a nighmare. But in Lafayette, you're not neccessarily sitting there, you're dealing with crazy shite.

I12 is like a nascar track if all the drivers were retarded.
And high. Morning commute smells like Woodstock.

I have several coworkers that drives from Laffy to BR for work. No way my place pays enough to put up with that traffic.

BR is always behind with new/improved road construction. Decades too late.

Thought it was the residents in that lovely stretch of ghetto between Pinhook and Willow Street that were holding up progress on 49?

Traffic can suck in both Baton Rouge and Lafayette.

THIS! My parents live south of the Acadiana Mall, and if I had a dollar for every time someone stopped in the merge lane from Ambassador Caffery to Johnson Street, I'd be able to retire!

You must live in BFE, driving in Lafayette is a cakewalk compared to NOLA, BR, or any city in Texas.

Going through Shreveport on I-20 they have it down to one lane with concrete barriers snaking all across the river for 3-4 miles.
Still? It was like that in early August.
This started in September of '23 and is expected to to finish up in early '26.
My wife(no pics) started the DROP program in the fall of '23 and this has been going on the entire time. We live in south Shreveport off Southern Loop and she teaches in Haughton. It'll likely finish up right before she retires in May...it's been an absolute Charlie Foxtrot.

Or 45 north between 3-6 PM, insanity

The part in Lafayette where Hwy 90 runs through the ghetto the roads are so awful.

I had the lovely experience of driving through there twice yesterday. The first time I got on 14 in New Iberia and cut up to Duson to get on the interstate so it wasn’t too bad.
I have gripes though. 90 east bound from 10 to the air port is a complete cluster frick. The fricker needs an expressway. How is traffic supposed to flow with all those lights. Also noticed something else.
During World War II, Liberty ships were built at an astonishing average rate of every 42 days, with one ship famously completed in just 4.5 days.
Having said that, what in God’s name is LADOT doing at the hwy 90 overpass at the Zoosiana exit?! I mean they must have found an Indian burial site there. That can be the only explanation why this one overpass has taken over 4 years to complete, and it’s still not even close.
