A hacker group has breached several FBI-affiliated websites and uploaded their contents to the web, including dozens of files containing the personal information of thousands of federal agents and law enforcement officers, TechCrunch has learned. The hackers breached three sites associated with the FBI National Academy Association, a coalition of different chapters across the U.S. promoting federal and law enforcement leadership and training located at the FBI training academy in Quantico, VA. The hackers exploited flaws on at least three of the organization’s chapter websites — which we’re not naming — and downloaded the contents of each web server.

The hackers then put the data up for download on their own website, which we’re also not naming nor linking to given the sensitivity of the data. The spreadsheets contained about 4,000 unique records after duplicates were removed, including member names, a mix of personal and government email addresses, job titles, phone numbers and their postal addresses. The FBINAA could not be reached for comment outside of business hours. In a statement Saturday the FBINAA said it was working with federal authorities to investigate the breach. “We believe we have identified the three affected Chapters that have been hacked and they are currently working on checking the breach with their data security authorities.”

I am glad you said this.

Shouldn't this be public info anyway? Other than their medical records.

What information, specifically, do you think should be made public?

Why? Are you suggesting every single person who works for any government entity should have their phone number, personal email and home address publicly available? Teachers, school cafeteria workers, etc.?

Does working for the government mean a persons right to privacy disappears?

Uh, no.

I'm not even FBI but work in a public enough job that I wouldn't want my address and phone number out there. Some of y'all are delusional over how much privacy public workers should be afforded.

Unless they make a very special episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Oweo will probably never have to worry about that.

Not that we didn't already know it, but you have confirmed the piece of shite status, that you maintain, is as strong as ever.

So our government cares about our privacy now?

If so then post all of your personal information and see what happens.
I bet you are too hypocritical to do it.

Do you rednecks have any idea what percentage of the public works for the government or companies that contract for public sector projects?

It's a lot of ordinary people. The only reason to publicize their private information is to target them.

What the governments cares about I not relevant to what our rights are. It’s up to us to guard them.

GW Bush signed a Law making it a felony to ID LEO's due to undercover work potential.

Came about through some websites outing undercover cops especially in drug cases.

Of course with the current algorithms to control the narrative, any search for past POTUS's stuff returns a bunch of Trump stuff instead so I can't readily find the links and don't feel like jumping through the hoops.

Sorry I should have worded it different. Because if you for the state or the federal government your salary is accessible only.

You can go to parish/county websites to see who got arrested. You can go to an assessors office and look up the value of people's property.. I am just saying, there is a lot of information that is already made public.

And since anyone who works for the government has some information easily accessible..

If that would discourage people from working in government, thereby shrinking its size at all levels, then the good outweighs the bad in that scenario. IMO.
