Just to let you guys know - I'm not requesting a refund from the gofundme site. I will simply pray that the aunt is reimbursed from the donations and that CD finally gets the help he needs. Most importantly, the children are taken care of.

That's good of you. I don't judge the decisions of anyone who still chooses to support nor those who have requested refunds. I truly don't believe you have been scammed by some hacker or anything like that. The money will go to this family in one form or another if gofundme doesn't shut the whole thing down. What they choose to do with it is on them and those who still choose to donate seem to be comfortable with that.

Bama woman died, some junkie(husband) with multiple personalities setup a Go Fund Me that he claims he doesn’t remember. OT donates 22K, OT gets pissed after going all 48 hours and requested their donations back. Junkie’s other personalities start “logging in” telling the OT to apologize & give the money. Junkie’s alter hates OT, OT hates them back.

Anyone who doesn’t refund their money is supporting a drug habit and a potential OD.

That's the conspiracy theory/worst case version of it.

I haven't kept up with this story much but the OT has a bunch of kind people. I don't know if this guy scammed people but if so, frick him. If not and he's just a junkie I hope he'll get clean.

If only there was somebody who could come in here, spend a few minutes, and coherently answer a few questions. Also, explaining what in the blue hell happened might be prudent.

No nonsensical mutterings will be necessary.

Unless this woman makes serious money, it’s a mistake to front this. Take this from someone who showed up to a funeral and had to pay for half of it.

My junkie extended family didn’t pay the bill and the funeral home refused to open the doors until the bill was paid.

Are basic funerals $8,000?

That's on the low end. Average is closer to $10,000.

We don't have that kind of money laying around, I promise. I did this for Carri's Mom and kids. If I get screwed it's on me, I don't believe I will. It was the right thing to do, the funeral home would not even release the obituary without the funds. Her mom just wanted to bury her, nothing else.
I only came here when I saw how much money had been raised. It wasn't hard to figure out how to find this board. I was curious to see who the kind and caring people were that showed up in a time of need. There are some really good folks here and I truly appreciate the support. I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I am eternally grateful to know good people still exist in this world.
