One thing is for certain: the Commander Data we typically see posting is not who we are seeing now. Whether the OP is actually him but doped up or if it's the Sonya person - we don't know.

brian is their cousin/“visionary”. he was refered to the sil because she is looking for a medium to talk with the deceased.

Honestly this situation has become even worse with the biggest victim now likely added to the list. KentuckyGirl (Carri's aunt by marriage) has now put somewhere in the range of 6-8 grand on her credit card to let the funeral proceed. I believe her because within an hour of her posting that she had paid for it, the obituary went live online.
So now she is completely reliant on gofundme to actually release the funds to Commander and on Commander to pay her back. And he won't get the funds until after his wife is buried. So there will be no incentive for him to pay KentuckyGirl back other than to choose to do so over buying more drugs. I hope I am wrong but I don't know many dope addicts who prioritize paying off an 8k loan to an out of state distant relative over their drug habit.
So now we likely have a kind hearted person who will be 8 grand in credit card debt (assuming she doesn't have that kind of cash) and the dope addict we were worrying about having too much leftover funeral money is now going to have all 20k + of it to do as he wishes with his wife's funeral already paid for by someone else.

That's about right.
The DIY option is much cheaper, though. But you'd likely catch a charge.
