I am a cynic too when it comes to this type of stuff. I donate if the story is verified and I feel it's a just cause. There's nothing dickish about it IMO.

All I can say is that whether it's the truth or a scam, it shows how many people on here have huge hearts for others in the toughest of times despite all the tough talk and dick-measuring that goes on around here. And to me, that's the bigger story here (unless you're the guy that donated $1500, in that case, the scam possibility may take precedence).
But taking the OP at his word, I pray that he has the strength to fight through everything for his kids.
