I'll be driving through Gadsden on my way back to BR on 12/19 and can easily drop something off for his kids. Probably not as easy as just sending stuff to someone closer, but still the offer is out there.

Email him, if he is cool with it, I could setup a P.O. Box for people to send to. I could meet ya in Gadsden. I have a Santa suit for my kid we could roll with and do a delivery. Ask him for his girls ages so we could get age appropriate gifts.

Your wife died last night, and your first thought is to come to the internet and ask strangers for money.

I understand this reaction but I also understand the Op's reaction knowing he didn't have the money.

When my son died, they asked me what funeral home right away. It is a shock when you have never even considered your love one suddenly dying. Hell I didn't even know any funeral homes and had to ask the hospital staff for a recommendation.

Next day, I had to go to the funeral home and was in no state of mind to be ready to do it. And I understand from the funeral homes perspective, but they don't do anything until payment has been figured out. Lucky for my family I had enough to cover the funeral, but if I had not, the stress would have felt like Mount Everest sitting on top of my chest.

I know the kind of sudden stress the OP is under and I wouldn't wish it on anybody.
Your wife can properly be buried now. You are in for a world of hurt and grief that is unimaginable but please always think about your children.

The only thing worse then losing one parent is losing both. They need you, so take one step at a time and be the strong man they need.

That would be awesome. Especially if his kids are younger and still do Santa.

I was waiting to get an age for his kids and see if he would let be bring them some gifts to him. I have no idea on how to set up a PO box or anything. I was thinking I could have anyone who wanted to send something, just ship it to my shop (FedEx, UPS, and USPS all make daily deliveries here) and I could load it all up and drive it to him one day. I'm in Oxford, which is only 30-45 mins to Gadsden so it would be pretty easy.

But if they're young enough to still do Santa and you have a suit, that would be pretty cool for them. Idk, I'd certainly like to try and make their Christmas better. Maybe it can bring them just a little bit of happiness in this horrible situation.

Absolutely.

I'll be cruising through with the family on that Saturday (12/19) probably late morning since I gain an hour. Would be all about making a present delivery for his kids.
