"It's not terribly great at preparing people for the bar exam," he said.
What a chode.

Let's assume is sob-story is true:
Well then why don't you? There are other jobs in the criminal justice system besides being a lawyer
Oh....that's why. Grow up Peter Pan!
Assuming that is true and that he didn't completely shite all over himself on the LSAT, he likely would have gotten some type of scholarship offer from at least one law school albeit maybe a lower-tier school.
The article says he graduated law school in 2006. Unless my information is wrong, UNT did not have a law school until 2012! Also, Baylor is a decent school. You don't just pass up a top 60 law school to go to a bo-bo law school out in San Diego
Here's what happened. This guy couldn't get in to any of the better law schools in TX (or probably the surrounding area). He was accepted to the school in San Diego were the admission standards wHere much lower and the tuition was much higher. He figured it would be cool to live in San Diego and took out a shite load of student loans to pay for not only school but his living expenses. He then failed the bar and instead of growing up and being an adult, decided that it was more fun to work at a fricking video game store.
Pass the damn bar and he could likely get a job AT LEAST as a public defender SOMEWHERE IN AMERICA.

Why are these people always the worst examples.
In truth, law schools do skew numbers and lie to students. It's bullshite.
But Mr. Can't Pass the Bar who goes to TJ is a terrible ambassador. For those not familiar, TJSL is Cooley-esque, meaning it is one of the most mocked and worst law schools in the country. Cooley, for example, created its own rankings (Cooley is #2) to publish because it's so shitty.
Well said.

TJSL set itself apart by responding to his inquiries quickly, contacting Moffatt to let him know they'd love to have him, he said. That, in addition to the sunny San Diego, California, campus and the good job statistics the school advertised, convinced him that he should attend.
Sounds to me like he couldn't get into Baylor or North Texas Law. Why else would you choose an independent law school that isn't ranked over a traditional university?

I'm fairly certain his shirt says,
"Note to self
Play more
Work less"
So frick him and his lazy self and wife.

First, no one relies on law school for bar prep. It's a completely different mode of testing. Law school exams are in depth, while the bar is minimum competency over a broad area of subjects.
So he failed the Texas bar, after going out of state for law school and relied on San Diego's in house prep course?
I'll be the first to call BARBRI a cash grab, but he's an idiot for not shelling out $2600 for the course or at least buying second hand materials and trying to learn how to take the test through them.

I'm going to sue LSU. They did not prepare me for the New York bar exam.

a. How many times did it take Cleo Fields to pass the bar?
b. Sounds like he gave up after two tries.
c. Why can't he get a job as a LEO if he has a degree in CJ.
d. Why can't he find a job as a paralegal/law clerk which may aid him in studying for the bar plus pay him more than $25K/year.
e. Sounds like this guy needs to call the Whaaambulance.

Dude could've parlayed those Criminal Justice and law degrees (without bar passage) into a Fed law enforcement career instantly. He could already have at least 8 yrs in their retirement system by now by doing that, and be close to having those loans forgiven. Probably a good thing he hasn't passed the bar, I wouldn't want to be his client.

If this guy wins then anyone who graduates and doesn't use their degree should get a refund.
I've already started applying to LSU for some cash back

TJSL over Baylor?
Yeah, that guy is a fricking retard.

Here is your problem. I have a friend of mine from law school that packed up after graduation and moved to San Diego. He had to take the bar 3 times before he finally passed. He hung a shingle and beat the bushes for business early on. He is doing really well now. Guy is dumb as a box of rocks, but is very determined.
All this guy has to do is pass the bar. He will find a job somewhere. Worst case, hang a shingle.

I think this is ridiculous but part of me understands his sentiments.
Institutions of higher learning rape people as much as Wall Street bankers do. Remember the Occupy Wall Street movement. Ever wonder who had that much time to spare on a protest?
I did some searching and found out the the profession that had the most protesters was College professor followed by high school teacher.
I seems like they only like rape, if it is they that are doing the raping. Wall Street taking advantage of people, okay. But what about the colleges that are giving out degrees in social work or woman/black studies where there are no jobs and they burden students with piles of debt.
People who live in glass houses.......

I knew someone that went to Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. Failed the Cali bar and then moved here to Nashville.

Did this school advertise that with a degree from them, you could practice law without having to pass the bar?

not only that, but with even a minimal amount of research (something i hope anyone prepared to shell out 170k for a degree would do) you can find out job statistics and a general reputation for law schools. its impossible for me to feel sorry for clowns like this guy.

My buddy did something like this. Michigan undergrad, Iowa law, didn't pass the bar, and is now a federal bank auditor.
