I want to see a coonass from Venice or Cut Off try that after about half a dozen beers.

I've lost my accent. I now wish I had kept it.

Oil is the only word I can't seem to lose.

I have a hard time dropping my rural (for lack of a better word) diction when I say words with emphasis on the letter O

I had a Yankee for a boss and she would give me crap about my accent. I told her that it is pronounced PAHCAHHN not PEECAN. I said a PEE-CAN is something you use during Mardi gras. She never gave me crap after that.

It happens. Mine thinned out when I left the South. When I got back south, I loved hearing them again. There's not much better than an educated women with a thick southern accent.

I can drop mine at will now. I learned quick from visiting up north how differently people will judge and treat you based on that accent. My wife laughs when i slide into it more around my friends from back down da bayou

I married a college educated gump and always loved the way she says "right", "goodnight" etc

After living in PNW for 20+ years I can barely understand some of my family members.

Where is this guy from? It's not an Alabama accent.

Oil is about the only word I'll get called out on unless I'm drinking. Once drunk the drawl sneaks its way back in full force

Did they get married at 13?

I'm glad I wasn't raised in the south and cursed with that hillbilly accent.

I worked with "oil" related tasks for a few years, had to give several talks in front of people both from LA and afar, and am now questioning myself if i sounded like this or not

I pray I never lose my southern accent.

Awesome, so not only are you racist but have bigoted views as well.

Ah yes the superior northerners who judge people by something as utterly superficial as an accent
