This is like needing to be told that walking up to a rattlesnake and trying to grab it is dangerous.

Africa can be pretty dangerous in the wildlife preserves. A few years ago I woke up in a tent in Tanzania to lions mating about 20 feet away. Freaking unreal. At that lodge it's not terribly unusual to lose people to lions, half the time they are employees and the other half they are tourists. Cape Buffalos are worse than the lions. Hyenas will go after kids if given a chance. In a lot of areas you are not allowed out of the vehicle, ever, even for a bathroom emergency. And then there is Australia where the crocodiles are dangerous as hell. America is pretty tame compared to most of the world.

I figured it easier if you'd just take her in front a mirror

in 1986, I took the family to Kenya for a 2 week bush trip. At the SAFE place the guide lead us out to view the hippoes, we walked in about 75 yards and this violent uproar occurred. !0 people ran back to the van to get inside, climbing over each other.

the issue

our group had walked up on several wild dogs that were trying to horn in on a lion kill. Lion got pissed, roared and sent the wild dogs in our direction.

the guide was very vocal about the hazards of hippoes.

At night we slept in sheet metal huts, walked to by shot gun carrying staff. In the morning we saw lots of lion tracks around the hut.

the most remarkable animal was the monkeys with giant blue balls
