People who know their own worth and capabilities don’t brag. In my experience, those who brag are usually insecure.
To drop your academic accomplishments in an introduction, or on a message board, is a sign of insecurity. They feel a need to prove their worth.

Obviously the guy has a short penis and cannot afford the typical ego compensating F250 diesel with truck nuts that many others so afflicted acquire.

My Unk was a prof at Johns Hopkins, he was a Stanford PhD. When anyone introduced themselves inappropriately (by academic credentials), he would follow up and tell them what High School he graduated from (a tiny public school in rural WV) and ask them if they’d ever heard of it. Most of the academic snobs didn’t get the irony but my Uncle was brilliant and untouchable (except for the Grim Reaper

Idk? I know a girl that has a PhD from John's Hopkins, she never brings it up unless someone axes her.
This guy gets it, I tend to downplay the situation. And it's even more awkward when a friend introduces you as so and so does this...

I had a manager that would sign his letters with his name followed by J.D.
He failed the bar so many times that he gave up.

Granted, he shouldn't have been bragging. However, a PhD is a terminal degree in contrast to law degrees and the like being professional degrees. The PhD is actually at the top of the academic ladder as it culminates in independent research aka dissertation.
