Guy Fieri, cable television’s so-called Mayor of Flavortown, recently signed a fresh contract with the Food Network for his popular Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and Guy’s Grocery Games. It will pay the celebrity chef $80 million over three years, a $50 million raise from his prior agreement.

I had no clue he was paid that much

ETA
He seems like a good guy & does a ton for charities

Triple D is the only good thing on the Food Network now. They gotta pay the Mayor for his flip flop fiefdom.

Hell yeah. I freakin love this dude.

He is also absurdly generous to people in need. All around awesome man who deserves all the good fortune in his life.

His original deal was super friendly to Food Network. Glad to see him getting what’s due.

He went table to table at a restaurant I was at in Cabo. He was extremely personable, took time to talk to anyone that wanted to, and took shots with maybe a third of the tables. He only asked there be no pictures of him taking them...

He looks goofy as hell but seemed like a genuinely good dude and I am now a fan.

Indeed.

Dont look up Judge Judy or how often she works to get that amount of money. Will literally make you wonder why you even bother getting out of bed in the morning.

I always got the impression from him that he really gave a shite when doing his shows. He seemed to genuinely respect the people he was visiting, their recipes, and what they did. I take all those shows with a grain of salt, but it did always come off to me that he was very genuine with people.

You can love or hate his whole persona, but the dude is very passionate about what he does and helping the restaurant business in general around the country.

Good for him. Anyone who dislikes this guy is probably a borscht-slurping commie.

I never understood why famous people act like dicks when they go out to crowded places and act indignant when someone recognizes them. If you dont want that, dont go and be famous and then go to a crowded place.

Guys like, umm, Guy are easy to love because they get that. They get the fans are what puts money in their pocket so why would you not want to do shots and interact and play up the persona? How many fans for life did he create that day and what did it cost him? He's a riot and a great guy by all accounts.

He won over the four of us at our table, for sure. Here I am years later still hyping him up!

I'm surprised Food Network is developing new episodes. They could likely make just as much on re-runs.
