As a tv personality, I respect that you can tell while watching when he thinks the food is fine but boring, fine but interesting, really good, or knock your socks off amazing.
That nuance is missing from other shows where the hosts act like every item they try is a 10/10 foodgasm.
I know if I was cooking up good-not-great burgers in Des Moines, IA and Guy came, filmed a couple hours that was gonna get me PAID, and all I got was a fist bump and "keep it up" marking his professional respect, it would mean a lot more than the Carnival Eats guy slobbering all over my 7/10 burger for 5 minutes.
Also, I've seen multiple episodes where he has gone out of his way to include mentally handicapped children and adults in the filming that leads me to believe he is more active charitably than just his Cooking with Kids foundation.
That nuance is missing from other shows where the hosts act like every item they try is a 10/10 foodgasm.

Guy is awesome. I don’t get the hate. His show is great, and I’ll watch it anytime. Also he is clearly a genuine dude.
