I'd take a good chunk for personal use then turn the rest into the authorities.

He tried to sell it slowly and make money. He should ahve contacted one guy he knew was in the trade and sold it cheap like
1 or 2 a key.
The whole thing to one street level hustler looking to go up.

Did this raise a question as to the whole happenstance scenario of "finding" this stash floating in the Gulf? Or was it basically established that it was indeed what occurred, but this guy is going down based on his priors?

Honestly I'd do the exact same thing he did. Even after seeing him get busted. I'd still do the exact same thing.

I would call the Sinaloa Cartel and ask politely for a finders fee.

Some friends of mine anchored overnight at Cat Island and woke up with bales of weed floating all around them. They called the Coast Guard but only after posing for selfies.

Why should the judge go easy on him? He was caught selling 45lbs of coke.

If I found 20 kilos of blow I would definitely do the right thing and turn in the 18 kilos of blow I found.

I would think it would be incredibly difficult and risky to sell. Few people know someone with the desire, resources, and connections to buy it all at once. Selling it little by little is a problem because someone is going to get caught and rat you out while your still holding.
Coke and weed have been washing up in the keys quite a lot in the past year. People joke that it's easier to find square groupers than snappers these days.
Recently a fisherman found some Coke and was trying to profit from it. Someone tried to rob someone and cut somebody out of the deal and 2 people were murdered.
It's gotta be more headache than reward for most people.

You mean the 15 you found. 18 might raise suspicion.
