Good God, are we now shaming people and businesses when they are not "patriotic" enough?

I think her hanging up, lying about it, and then calling the police with false claims is probably at the root of all this.
Also, they probably had no clue there was an order(request) to lower the flag, and probably has no clue what it represents...I'm chalking this up to ignorance on the employees part along with their customary shitty customer service(hanging up on the guy).

This guy sounds like a douche and I would not believe his account.

That guy looks like he made an 18 on the ACT.

The female "supervisor" looks like she heads up East Over HOA so I'm taking anything she says with a grain of salt.

I think that's pretty likely. People who don't have much going for themselves otherwise are typically the veterans who expect everyone to kiss their arse and bend to their will. You don't see this type of worship me mentality with veterans who have careers and other things in their lives that they are proud of in addition to their service.

I dont post here often. But, what I'm reading here is exactly what he is talking about. It may be ceremonious, but, believe it or not that flag does mean something to some Americans. The lack of respect and loss of morality is what was shown. You sit behind your mama's computer and trash people. It's really sad that you don't have respect for what that flag stands for. But, I guess that's to be expected from those that haven't had to sacrifice or work for anything.
Let me guess, you served for four years and you never shite the frick up about it. You are the worst, and you're a joke to those who actually served

Ducote did this for propaganda and publicity for his organization. That was apparent when he pulled out the business card and made sure to tell the clueless as to what was occurring girl the name of his organization. Twenty one minutes of wasted time for everyone there and much more for everyone now discussing the incident.

I'm glad you live in Watson. I'm in Denham at present.
It's a good thing you don't post more often. 30 something posts in and you're trying to fight people.

I don't doubt that..I just would not barge in the ones who weren't and demand that they do..
Obviously, that would be the wrong way to handle the situation, as I said in a previous post. And as I also stated, we've seen more lowered than not already. ... I think the fact that McDonalds is such a large establishment is probably what made anyone notice to begin with. I would be curious, just because of that, as to why they didn't, but barging in demanding that some young manager of the hour provide answers that she clearly didn't know or actions that she clearly didn't understand obviously isn't the answer. And that was/is part of the problem, as well.
The way it appears to me is that everyone involved fricked up ...
- The owner didn't know, or didn't tell his employees, which is all on him.
- The guy who stormed in demanding something of someone who wasn't in a position to provide it was the wrong way to handle his gripe, but I think he knew that, and just wanted to make a dramatic scene. If he had truly been so concerned about McDonalds being disrespectful to our men killed in the incident the other day by not lowering their flag to half staff, he would have contacted the general manager or the owner to ask why. If he had done that, he would've gotten an explanation that it was an oversight, not intentional disrespect, and it all would've been copacetic. But he was truly looking more for attention than for answers, imo.
- The "manager" on duty had zero clue what to do in this situation, and only caused it to escalate by her lack of directness or willingness to just handle it. All she would have had to do is call either the general manager or owner, and tell the guy that. Just inform him that she understood he was upset, and that she was going to find out what was going on by contacting her bosses, then do it. Whatever answer or solution they gave her to give to the asshat, or if they wanted to speak with him themselves would have been better than her just disappearing then calling the cops, which appears to be what she did. She could have easily diffused the situation by "pacifying" the guy, and taking some initiative to find out what was going on, even if it just meant calling her bosses. ... She acted like a deer caught in headlights who didn't know what the hell to do except run. And much of that is her boss's fault for lack of training or for putting her in a "manager" position at all. That role usually requires a bit more know how than just balancing the registers at the end of the shift. Those positions do entail a bit of knowledge in effectively dealing with the public - especially douchebags.
Overall, this is such a blown out of proportion event that it's beyond ridiculous, and if one person had acted logically, it wouldn't have been an issue at all, but then there wouldn't be an awesome attention whore video or thread to bitch in so that everyone can proclaim their superiority, patriotism or lack thereof, higher intellect, badass-ness, etc., ... so, there's that.

The amount of internet badassery in this thread is truly inspiring. I think I may go join the military just so I can come back and post stupid shite.

Update: LINK
quote:
The restaurant’s employees didn’t know the governor had issued a half-staff order, said Chris Valluzzo, the owner of the Walker McDonald’s along with 27 other McDonald’s restaurants in the area.
Had they know, Valluzzo said Sunday, the restaurant would have followed suit, as it normally does, and lowered its flag.
Ducote was unaware that Valluzzo has a policy that prohibits staff from touching the restaurant’s flags. That policy exists because some flags have been vandalized through “anti-American” behavior over the years, he said, so the flags are made difficult to access.

It's funny I've seen two spins on this already. One like this and "McDonald's calls police on veteran"

I just read that, glad to see it.. I can't stand grandstanding and self-promotion like that. There is a right and a wrong way to handle these situations.

I commented that sentiment on his page, and I'm getting messages to meet out back after school..
When I reiterated that I was a veteran, and still saw how he handled it, it got worse..
