I agree with you. I've carried several of fallen comrads to be placed on Blackhawks with our flag draped over them after they were kia.
Ill never forget those days and never forget the several honors ceremonies I've done for many retired vets as well.
So it's not just a flag to me. So for someone to say these traditions are silly is pretty messed up to put it nicely.
I do think mr. Ducote's approach could have been better.

That poor young lady.

I do think if he went in there with the purpose of educating the workers on the importance and traditions he would have received a better response from the employees.
The supervisor is still a pansy. If they wouldn't listen all he had to do was just leave and not do business with them again

I'll bet there is not a day that goes by where that guy doesn't tell someone he's a veteran.

There are some businesses in this country that would not even fly the flag, it looks from the picture that the Days Inn and Shell Station avoid nonsense like this by not even having a flag which of course is perfectly in their rights. If I'm a business owner in Walker I might think to myself, why put the flag up, miss a federal or state announcement ordering civil buildings to fly their flag at half staff and employees suffer the insane creating disturbances.

I didn't know we were prices.

His personal Facebook page is full of soldiers. That guy is just an attention seeker. Yeah I'm pretty sure he tells everyone he's a vet and probably asks for a vet discount too. I rarely say I was a vet. It doesn't matter, I know what I did. I don't feel the need to advertise it. Same for my friends who served and some of them have been part of some real fricked up shite. Is it really a honor to be recognized as a vet if you have to tell everyone you are a vet?
Thank you! I can't tell you how many times I have people come to me at work trying to get freebies for being vets. They usually get nothing. But if I have to see someone's ID and they show me their military ID without making a big deal out of it I always hook them up.

I think we all would agree that our veterans sacrifice a lot for us and we thank them everyday but this guy is a huge douche bag. I don't care who you are or if you have served in the military, that doesn't give you the right to bully a girl and try and make threats against a business. This guy in particular, not all veterans, can't stress that enough, is a huge POS.

Free enterprise. Gov can't make them lower flag. On the other hand. Cynically speaking, how stupid to antagonize local patrons?

I have a hard time believing you didn't curse this girl on the phone after seeing how you and your family went in there to start a confrontation to seemingly get five seconds of attention on Facebook.
It was not disrespectful of that girl or McDonald's as a whole to not have that flag at half staff. I bet every person behind that counter would have felt terrible had they known of those soliders' passing; but face it, it's a big world and it is completely possible they knew nothing of it.
The reality here is that you went in there, made a scene, and want people to tell you good job. I would much prefer people tell you that whatever mistake McDonald's made by not lowering the flag, it pales in comparison to your antics in the name of being a self-righteous jerk. Congratulations on scaring a young girl.
There are a few, very few, comments on FB that call the guy out.
