Just wanted to say that not only is it illegal to carry a firearm with a BAC over 0.06, but I believe it is illegal to carry in an establishment that sells alcohol.

Yes. Black. There was some confusion because one of the Patois robbers was wearing a mask that looked white or something in the video still.

No one is advocating giving them "more money."

I called for a revamping of the public school system, a better emphasis on early childhood education, and for the city to recruit more viable industries to the city.

Those help the lower, middle and the upper class. Tax cuts for companies to create more jobs, and more opportunities for people to take advantage of.

Look on the bright side: at least your streets are smooth and your tap water is clean. Oh wait, they aren't.

City officials are more focused on a damn statue.

1964- Great Society commences, black crime is statistically manageable, out-of-wedlock birth rate is under 30%. Liberal good intentions abound. What could go wrong if we replace the traditional family unit with a government check. What do you mean "if we subsidize social pathology we will only get more of it",that doesn't make sense. If we just address poverty....

Well that's happens when you wait 100 years to do what you should've done in 1865 and then you end up poorly addressing a problem with the wrong situation due to self exacerbated reasons.

Listen dude and try to understand, education starts at home. No matter how much money you put into a social program, if its not starting at home it won't work. Individuals have to be accountable for their actions and have to have the desire and want to better themselves and their children. For instance, I want my nephew to go to Vandy or Stanford. He is a great athlete and will likely be a 3* football player if he continues to work. I know in order for me to get him to Stanford he has to be academically acceptable. Because I want this, I work on math with him 3 nights during the week. We spend about an hour every night doing math. My point is, you have to invest your on time into children you love before you expect to get results from someone else doing it.

Well I'm going to go out on a limb here and say no member of Seal Team 6 was having the duck hash in Atchafalaya last night.

I never carry cash in NO. I can beat a felon to a computer to cancel my card quicker than he or she could find one.

Do you know how bad public schools were before Katrina (charter takeover)?

What industries do you suggest that New Orleans needs and doesn't have? How are you going to get people who do exactly what they want, when they want....and get paid for it, to get up and 9 to 5 it every day for $10/hr?

Let's see.....rob a restaurant and make $2k in 3 minutes, or work a full 40hr week and make $300 after takes. Then, go home and smoke a bowl while your new chick gets naked and robs a John of $500. Or you could go home from your 9 to 5, not smoke up because you might get drug tested, and watch home makeover shows all night.

Choices, choices

Throwing people in jail was an adequate societal solution in 1983. And that only exacerbated the problems by locking up a generation of young men. That's not a viable solution in my opinion.

Prison was meant for people who rob an entire restaurant at gunpoint.

I get what your saying about improving schools even though I don't think the public school system is the answer, at least not by itself. What you seem to be ignoring is the violent adult aged criminals of present day. Bringing in industry and improving schools will fix the problem long term for next generation but what about the present. The rampant crime has to be addressed now. Those Criminals have to be taken off the streets before the next generation can thrive with the improvements in their community. You seem to be saying that the current criminals will stop being violent if we treat the root cause. You have to treat the root cause for long term while directly addressing the current issues. And putting violent criminals in prison is never a bad thing no matter their race. That is where violent criminals belong.

Too many people want to bash the public school systems because they want place the blame there and point the finger. The school my nephew is not considered a good school, mainly because of low test scores. We live in the day of technology, anything you want to know is simply at your finger tips. When working with my nephew, I go online and find tons of calculus problems for him to work. If I can do it, so can all these other parents.
