I like the the giving them life part. Cutting the families benefits will only work if they are on benefits. If they are, taking away government assisted housing is okay with me.

Right. Give them a job. That solves it. Because they just really want to work 8-12 hours a day 5-7 days a week to better themselves. They don't really want to get high all day and rob a couple of times a week.

You are so full of shite. Stop jailing them. Don't punish them. L O fricking L

Jailing them is a lazy "I wanna stop the symtomps but not cure the disease" solution that has failed us already. You don't want to care if they do it to each other, as long as they don't disturb your meal at some swanky uptown restaurant.

Looking past YOURSELF, and looking at how Changes could be put forth to benefit everyone ultimately makes NO better. Your solution just widens the disparities and gap, and I can gurantee you your kids and my kids will be dealing with these same problems in 20 years because of our short sighted, me first and lazy approach to fixing the crime issue

Revamp public schooling, reempahsized early childhood education--most of these kids dive off into the bad directions at 4 and 5 years old due to a litany of reasons, and I can gurantee you you will see rampant changes 15-20 years from now.

IT IS NOT GOING TO WORK! Schooling starts at home. Most of these kids can't even read when they start school. Stop trying to put the burden off on the rest of society. The problem starts at home with their mother. The rest of us shouldn't have to deal with these thugs because their mother can't read herself and made bad choices.

You are missing the point. The people committing these crimes don't want your help. If you think throwing more money at the problem is going to help then that's fine. I disagree. You aren't changing that particular subset of people's culture. Not with a job anyway.

Your goal to lessen the number of thugs is admirable. Good luck to you.

So, we shouldn't punish the black men that are committing the vast majority of the crimes because it is disproportionately higher? Ok!

Your solutions have been tried and have fallen on their faces because we are still dealing with them today. All it does it breed more contempt, especially in a state none to punish some constituents harder than others purely because of their appearance. If u want to go that route, especially in a city that has a bankrupt and poor public defense system, than why not, in conjunction with your proposed laws, make sure the PD system gets adequate funding. Or do you care about the core tenets of justice or would u rather have people unfairly thrown in jail because of bad defense or a system to titled against them and their favor

Sounds like you don't understand the bad part of New Orleans. To put it simply, they DGAF about laws or you. They DGAF about anything really. They just do what they want when they feel like it. They know they aren't gonna get arrested and charged 75% of the time, and aren't gonna get convicted 95% of the time. They don't care about being in jail either

You think you can get them to give up free money, adrenaline, fricking chicks, and doing drugs for homework and tests? That sounds stupid to any normal person. And if you think cops in New Orleans are lazy, you wouldn't be able to comprehend how bad the public school teachers are.

Maybe if they got convicted more often (with legit time) and jail was less of a party, they'd straighten up

I'd prefer armed robbers go to jail. That's just me though.

Legalize pot. Let them buy it at a state run store and get taxed on it.

If they rob for it, put them away for a long time.

No, the reason my solutions hasn't worked is because of the for profit prison systems. If we stop focusing on jailing all the dime bag sellers and smokers, it would free up room for the violent criminals to keep them there. It is obvious you don't understand economics though.

1964- Great Society commences, black crime is statistically manageable, out-of-wedlock birth rate is under 30%. Liberal good intentions abound. What could go wrong if we replace the traditional family unit with a government check. What do you mean "if we subsidize social pathology we will only get more of it",that doesn't make sense. If we just address poverty....

2005 -50 years into The Great Society, the black family is destroyed, 80% of black children are born without both parents in the home, we've spent trillions subsidizing social pathology, most "black" cities in America have been utterly destroyed, and crime is rampant.

Thank You Liberalism.
And Go America.

Your solutions are made from fairy dust, unicorns and rainbows.

Your sociology professors are communists. The sooner you grasp this the better.

What I don't understand is why did they feel the need to change things back in the 60s? Helping people is fine, but if you aren't helping them in the right way you get what we have today. Instead of teaching them to fish, they just gave them fish and have been since.

Being a liberal do-good-er who measures success by the good intentions involved rather than by actual results, means never having the honesty to grapple intellectually with the utter destruction your good intentions created.

Liberal GOOD INTENTIONS literally ruined millions of black lives. And maybe three of them have ever really contemplated their complicity in this American tragedy.

But simply doing an economic outlook would have shown anyone what was going to happen.
