Denali should stay Denali. It was dumb to ever name it McKinley in the first place.

No one that I know in Alaska has ever called it McKinley.

Yea man, can't believe that in all this time Trump has been in office, this is the only thing he's accomplished so far.

"Our Man" has gotten more done it two weeks than those bozo's did in 4 years. Do yourself a favor and listen to Dana White explain how Trump operates. The man is constantly working and never sleeps.

This is not true. There were active rigs constantly throughout Biden's tenure in the Gulf. I had to keep track of rig count by basin/play in 2022 and 2023.

The litany of replies that think this is:

1. A partisan issue
2. Actually a contentious issue
3. NOT a weird case of performative politics

shows a lot about my LSU degree

you and others are missing the bigger picture.

eta:

in a vacuum does renaming the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America do anything? No.

Let me paint the bigger picture for you carefully. We are bringing back our culture. examples of the shift away from the self-hatred weak and pathetic mindset of the last 10-15 years:

DEI
TO Merit Based

Founding Father’s BAD
TO We are not ashamed of our history

America is no better than any other nation
TO Gulf of America. Deal with it.

We’ll take the worst of your country and provide for them here
TO we’ll deport their asses back to your country and you won’t do a fricking thing about it.

We’re going to be subservient to other nations
TO We’re going to slap your arse with tariffs if we feel we are getting a raw deal.

We’re going to write checks for billions for other’s wars and every want and need.
TO frick all that. We’re cutting you all for now, until we decide your needs match the taxpayers interest. 99% of it doesn’t.

Surely, you are starting to get the bigger picture (probably not tho). it’s a complete mindset change. One that was needed. And voted for. Sorry not sorry.

Its not about the name. He's Alpha dogging the rest of the world. Reminding them that he has the upper hand in all negotiations on the world stage.

It doesn't even show up as "Gulf of America" for the rest of the world, only us. Most other people don't care because they don't know and it impacts them in no way.

in danger” began to dominate public discourse, amplified by the media. This was odd—after all, the U.S. is a democracy (or more precisely, a constitutional republic). But as I traced the influence of these NGOs, a pattern emerged: they are controlled by establishment politicians, they play a major role in shaping political narratives worldwide, and their core mission is always framed as “protecting democracy.”

Originally, these NGOs were created to support U.S. democratic efforts abroad—many of them emerging during the Cold War to combat the spread of communism. But with the fall of the Soviet Union, their original purpose faded. Instead of dissolving, they redefined their mission. Now, they have positioned themselves as the guardians of democracy itself.

This shift explains why Trump’s re-election was framed as a "threat to democracy." To these NGOs, “democracy” means themselves. Their survival depends on maintaining that role, and any challenge to their authority is perceived as a direct attack on democracy itself.
