Grown men collecting action figures
Posted by Broke on 9/26/17 at 9:08 am531
Is it anyway acceptable to have action figures. Let's say vintage Star Wars (1977-1983) and the entire collection.
I'm thinking of rebuilding my childhood collection but it will cost north of $10,000 to do it.

If it makes you happy and you have the means to do it, go for it! Who gives a shite what anyone else thinks?

Collecting from an early age with the intent to sell at a profit later...sure.
Collecting for the sake of having a museum of children's toys in your home...well, I've never really understood the motivation for that.

Im 40 and kept my Stars Wars toys.
But they were stashed away in an attic never to been seen again until my nephews were old enough to play with them.
I thought about buying more or replacing some of the beaten up ones but only again because of my nephews.
Get some nephews.

A much more worthwhile endeavor that collecting watches for sure.
Who wants to be constantly reminded that death is marching closer and closer. Instead, forget about time and play with your dolls.
It's not something I would do, but if someone else wants to do it.... I am not really going to judge them.. Well, I might think they are like the 40 year old virgin or something and make jokes about it, but it really doesn't bother me...

As a long time Rockets season ticket holder, I made the mistake of collecting all the bobbleheads years ago. Now I feel obligated to have to get there two hours early on bobblehead nights. It's a pain in the arse.
I bought a darkseid figure that came with a burger king kids meal back in the day.
It was a toy I had and lost as a kid, but when I saw it on Amazon for $10 I was like, "why not.., I love darkseid".
I do have books, my oldest is a 9.5 Spiderman #9

I have 5 dragon ball z action figures in my room that I bought when I was a teen. I keep them on display on a shelf... no shame. Everyone seems to like them anyway.
Only 5? Amateur, you're never going to get laid with such a small collection.

Well, this is my desk right now...
If loving Star Wars is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
