Honestly, this kinda annoys me.

I’m sure there’s at least a few workers who’d like to get a few more hours in. The amount of shoppers out on Christmas to workers who would volunteer might work ok.

There are two 24/7 places near me I go to almost every day. They ain’t mom and pop joints.

I promise you there are a lot more workers that don’t want to be forced to go into work on Christmas because you don’t want to be moderately inconvenienced

And a lot of those companies still give out holiday pay for those closed days.

It’s neither. There are other options, etc.

But the store doesn’t get my money and I don’t get what I went to get there

I worked till 7 tonight. These stores closed st 5 and 6 respectedly.

Screw them for thinking of their employees and their families.

What kind of business can succeed with that model?

That is almost as dumb as a fast foot restaurant closing on Sundays. Never works.

OK, I was going to rip you for griping about this but, heck, it's Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas, and plan better next year.

what? How is this being inconsiderate to employees?

I used to volunteer to work holidays all the time.

I haven’t had thanksgiving off in 4 years. That’s just the way things are

Piss off. Start your own store and never close it or plan better.

Oh. Merry Christmas!

I’ve worked retail 2 miserable years in college.

All those places have to do is ask if anybody wants to work Christmas. They’ll be at least a few that want the hours over being off, especially if they’re getting paid time and a half.

Keep that shite open.

Those employees have been busting their arse for a couple of weeks. They are done with the holidays and ready for them to end. You had 365 days to prepare...

Amazing how many nonreligious people want off on Christmas.

Because it’s not just a few cashiers. It involves management and other complexities.

Everyone had the entire weekend to get ready for the holiday. It’s just a day and a half at most.

Thanks to the Jewish owned grocery store in my neighborhood I've never had to worry about this.

Doesn’t have to be in non-essential jobs... and I’d say cashier in 90% of industries counts as non essential. Even if your not a holiday super fan, there’s something to be said for getting some time with friends and/or family.

Pretty sure Walmart even shuts down early on Christmas Eve and is closed Christmas day. When and where I lived in the Midwest it did, not sure if that's also true here in South Louisiana.

fricking A, I guess I have a different viewpoint on these things.

I have no clue what’s wrong with wishing stores were open. i also don’t understand how offering an extra chance to make some money is a great crime.
