I ran the race this morning-it was hot AF. Got some food to go then rolled out. I’d wait until the sun goes down if I were you.

Outside festival in late May? And I have to go to the banana republic of crime ridden NOLA and pay a premium to park? Hard pass.

Greek Fest

I’ve been a couple of times and enjoyed it okay, but it’s kind of overrated IMO.

I’m a bit biased though because I’ve been to Greek festivals in Chicago so it’s an unfair comparison.

We go every year - thanks for helping to keep the crowd size down.

Free parking with a short shuttle bus ride or long walk, and Lake Vista is not exactly a hotbed of crime.

@ Legion of Doom - I haven't done the 5k since they moved it from late afternoon to morning. A bit too hot for that. We'll be there late afternoon today.

Was pissed that they moved the 5k from Friday night to Saturday morning. I haven’t done the race in a couple of years. Thought I heard on the news that we were getting a “cool” front this weekend and signed up. I played myself.

Did you find it much less crowded than usual?
I went to the first one and it was just a small church fair. I ended working as a non paid helper.

Moving the 5K from Friday to Saturday really bummed me out. Used to run in it often.

And LOL at the dude throwing shade at an awesome festival with free parking. FYI- they charge admission; that keeps a lot of the riff raff out.

It’s in one of the palest, more affluent areas of the city directly on Bayou St John at a Greek Orthodox Church. You aren’t getting shot

Houston's was last weekend. But with Niko Niko's and Phoenicia in town, it's not as special as it would be in a food desert like Louisiana.

Ended up going and it was a good time!

Got there around 6 right after a little shower cooled things off. It was perfect! Got some gyros, and a lamb plate, and sat by the bayou. Followed this up with a

baklava sundae.

This was amazing.

Then went inside and made it to the 3rd row for the Hellenic dancers. Grabbed some pastries to go and listened to a few songs from the stage before heading out.

Was a blast and everyone there was really laid back and nice.
