Douglas Schmidt. Came up with diminished capacity due to too much sugar and junk food later to be coined the Twinkie Defense...since used in 1000s of Murder 1 defenses.

ETA I should have noted Lionel Luckhoo was Guyanese, but the OP didn't say American and Luckhoo's achievements are legendary.

The prosecution was retarded. You never EVER let the defendant handle evidence in front of the jury.
Ito allowed the defense to completely dominate that case. No control.iver his courtroom.
