No, it sticks to the areas that were drawn with the pencil, not the stone. Dark areas in the drawing will be dark on the print. Maybe you're thinking of relief printing like linocut or woodcut?
I stand corrected

Artists are so strange. Why not just paint or draw on paper?

What- or who- would you say has created the greatest artistic body of work in the history of the world.

My #1 choice is, without a doubt, The Beatles

DiVinci left Italy, in the final years of his life, for France because Michelangelo had become superior in their home country of Italy.

Divinci was not only a great artist he was also one of the greatest sculpture creator ever known. And his idea's of flying machine were well ahead of his time. So add inventor to his resume.

What about Hemingway?
Isn't he credited with 27 literary masterpieces?

While Mozart, Beethoven, Bach are some of the first names to come to mind regarding music, My pick is a little more modern.
John Townes Van Zandt
This man was a prolific songwriter and a incredible story teller with many many classics.

For those of you downvoting and sheeting on my personal pick of The Beatles- name me any artist who can compare to the following:
Rubber Soul
Revolver
Sgt. Pepper
Magical Mystery Tour
The White Album
Let it Be
Abbey Road
These albums were all created in a 5 year span. No other artist can even come close to the output or virtuosity of The Beatles. This music changed the direction of society and still influences culture 50 years later and will continue hereafter.
In my humble opinion.
