You never let music impact your behavior? You’re basically a robot that acts the same way all the time regardless of the stimuli around you?

The music is there regardless of what you do. Just how the ocean waves will be the regardless of what anyone does. Some people choose to surf. Others just enjoy watching.

A way to send a message, to make a point, a mood setter, to bring out emotion and to be happy…

People watch movies where people are intensely in the moment and the music pairs perfectly. People want to think “that’s only in the movies, real life isn’t like that.”
It’s true that real life isn’t like that for the most part. We can’t script everything like movies can. But what we can do is become more sensitive to our surroundings, become more willing to open ourselves up, and be willing to “catch the wave” so to speak when the opportunity presents itself.

Romantic music is playing and I'm leaving.

You sound like a fricking nerd. It has to come natural, but the biggest thing you want to do is "read the room". Sometimes a "life of the party" isn't needed or someone else is setting the tone. You don't go in thinking "im going to be the life of the party".
You have to feel in, not make yourself do certain things.

Ham, you don’t need to take a lap, you need to get the frick out of practice—and don’t come back until you get your shite together.

You should bring this up at a party.
