Is anybody shocked by this?

I have numerous Boomer relatives that have been married 2+ times. Statistically its not going to work out and has a higher chance of ending than your first one. That generation of simps is still holding out I guess.

One thing I have noticed with my millennial male peers. Just about none of us are getting married again after the first divorce. A lot of them are staying bachelor single dads or passport bros.

Don’t really consider men a ‘meal ticket’ anymore since most women also work.

And the man was the bread winner, especially in that age demographic.
And we all know that when a woman works it's usually a case of her money is her money, and his money is "our" money.

If divorce is so hard on women then why are women the ones that file over 70% of the time ?
Let me guess, it's because he's an abusive narcissist and it only took her 40 years to figure that out

Imagine trying to downplay a trashy divorce by pointing out folks with multiple divorces

You know my Mawmaw used to get $12/hour at Dixie during the war? One of her sisters only made $10/hour at Falstaff

She's still making out better by divorcing at 65 than should would have by divorcing at 40.

Maybe so, but 25 years is a long time to stay with a spouse you don’t like just to get half of a little more money. And many people become bitter as they reach that age (I’m 63 so I’ve seen it in a few acquaintances). Maybe the man just became a pain in the arse.

A buddy of mine just divorced his wife. She was definitely a parasite. Fat arse, lazy and selfish.

A couple of young retards were lamenting how they will never be able to afford a house with mortgage rates at all time high. I informed them that in the early 80's that mortgage rates were 18%.

And a full family house cost $50k or less, and a single average father’s income could support a middle or upper class lifestyle.

Boomers, the most coddled and selfish generation, took up all of the benefits of the growing economy, took it all for granted, now they’re having to work longer and deprive young people of good jobs, and planning to spend too much in retirement so they don’t provide any inheritance to their kids like their parents did

And I say this as one of the few young millennials actually doing well in this economy. The rest of my cohort are voting in socialists in NYC bc they’ll never get ahead statistically

By 2019, more than a third of all divorces involved people over 50 — a trend expected to continue as Americans live longer and become more willing to leave unhappy marriages.

Considering average life expectancy is another 25 years beyond that and that Boomers are now all well into that range (thus loading the stats on the upper age range), I have to wonder if dementia among the elderly is skewing that upward.

You must have some shitty friends. Statistically millennials have a much lower divorce rate than the selfish boomers or Gen X

I would bet that many of these are not first marriages, and the spouses are pretty financially independent anyway. Article reads like a sales pitch for financial planning.

A significant number of men on the OT think it’s gay to moisturize. Imagine living with some of these fat ignorant slobs who post on here. Can’t blame a woman for checking out on someone who can’t even take care of themselves.

You're a moron.
You couldn't buy a full family house for 50k or less in the frigging 80's.
Where do you come up with this bullshite ?

Older people also divorce for medical and other reasons. If their total assets are above a certain amount, some diagnoses and medical conditions will completely bankrupt them. Divorce can allow them to protect some assets and qualify for programs.

So, before you start with the “all women are whores” bit again, think beyond that and some reasons older people may divorce.

Oh, most 70 yo women who have been housewives and living off the husband’s money aren’t exactly the ones out getting the hot 60 year old early retirees. Just sayin??

Because men are lazy? I mean, if he can’t remember to take the trash out without being reminded every single day, how is he going to come up with the gumption to file for divorce?

I know of a couple - the husband asked for the divorce and he slept on the couch for two years until the wife filed

So of course it looks like she’s the one that asked for the divorce.

Right? And I’ll bet she still did the laundry, cleaned up the sofa, cooked dinner, made his appointments, took care of the kids.

My BIL couldn’t find his arse with both hands and a map without my sister. AND she makes all the money.

You He-Man woman haters are such poons.

Take care of your wife and family and she won’t need to plot to leave you.

I’m sure anyone who thinks like you is coming home from work and turning on the X Box instead of rearing your household.
