Break the article down and see who files for that divorce. It’s overwhelmingly women that file for divorce. That’s where the discussion needs to focus.

This seems like a misogynistic statement, someone will be here shortly to scold you for hating women.

True Dat.
I don't understand why men get attacked when they literally quote documented statistics

People stress over eeeking out another 0.5% return on their 401k.

Meanwhile their greatest financial risk is at Hobby Lobby buying more Christmas shite they don't need that will be thrown in a roll-on dumpster a year from now when she takes half that 401k and downsizes into a nice patio home.

not me, I've always put it high risk and forget about it, I get notifications all of the time warning that at my age I should tone it down but it's been clicking at about 35% for quite some time

Ironic. You seem to think a lot about yourself and your opinion.

Boomers divorcing all the way to the end as they collect their government benefits.

Depending on the length of the marriage a woman can choose which husband’s social security they can mooch on for the rest of their lives.

The social security office must see more love triangles than the Young and the Restless.

What a nightmare.

You seem to have the opinion that the man is financially destroyed but the woman is on easy street. The fact is that she would be in a similar situation as him.

Seriously, dont break the law, just go around it...there are.tons of ways to gain protections, legally. It is INSANE to work your whole life and have someone divorce you and get as much as you...absolute moronic insanity if you let it

There's SD trusts, crypto, and the good old fashioned cash back at the grocery store. Plenty of ways to legally do it, just have to do it for a long period of time. If you take it out all at once, the courts will get you.

But women are the ones choosing divorce in this situation.
The vast majority of the time men were the bread winners, especially in Gray Divorce age group.
She wanted the divorce decades ago, she merely played the long game to max out her divorce settlement.
She's still making out better by divorcing at 65 than should would have by divorcing at 40.

most couples I know both work - many are still working at 65

Don’t really consider men a ‘meal ticket’ anymore since most women also work.
