I've been to both. Some offer seat side, some you get your food and drinks and bring them into the theater.

That's interesting. I'm curious -- can you compare prices at a non-seatside service place with a place that offers it? I feel like there has to be a difference. But I'm resolute in my opinion and won't change it until proven otherwise

Last one is a theater that only certain theaters offer seatside. For the rest of them you can go to the cafe and place an order and bring your food and alcoholic drinks back to your seat.

Thank you! The first one is one the one that showed alcohol prices most clearly, so that's what I'm basing this off of. Cocktails at $8-10 strikes me as high. More what I would expect to pay at one of the nicer cocktail bars here. Then again, it kinda commands its own market. They can do that. I honestly probably wouldn't be to taken back by that because I would probably just take that into the budget of my experience. I guess it should be said that I don't think of going to the theater as a particularly ordinary experience. I'd honestly rather partake in the luxury of my own abode.

Likewise beer prices are higher. I'd be pretty pissed to pay $5.75 for a Sam Adams at a bar.

If that's indicative of the rest, I think that it's safe to conclude that theaters that service will command higher prices, not necessarily egregiously so, but they enjoy the luxury of offering it and thus command a niche market. If you can't afford it you don't offer it. So it would seem that the extra payroll cost is offset by the cost of drinks.

Go to canal place in New Orleans and you will have your mind blown by how such an awesome theater it is and gasp, they sell alcohol.

Crazy I know.

I can remember when smoking in theaters was commonplace.

Theaters would also be required to get approval from their local government to sell alcohol.

I'm assuming it would be treated like a bar, where you have to have a liquor license.

Yeah these have been in Texas for as long as I can remember. They are not your regular amc theaters like some people in this thread are thinking. They are special really nice theaters that you have to be 18+ to go to.

I can't wait for these to start popping up here. My biggest issue with going to the movies is the teenagers that talk and play on their phones the whole time.

I definitely support this. Doubt I'd drink at the movies due to pissing every 30 mins. But still cool.

I completely agree with your post, good to see us moving forward and Jindal not squashing something because some baptist got their feelings hurt. I also disagree with the bolded part but small victories are progress in the anti progress state.

I think the age requirement is the best thing about this!! And I would not mind having apps and a glass of wine while watching a movie.

Yeah, because those sugary and caffeinated drinks and sweet candies sure do calm down the kids when they're watching movies.
