Prayers for you brother! DL Moody once said “ pray like it’s up to God, work like it’s up to you, that’s good theology”. Do what you can, leave the rest.

That’s great advice. I’ve never been a very active person, I work in an office and sit down most of the day but ever since this came up, I’ve been getting in my 30 minutes of cardio a day. As soon as the doctor says it’s safe to run, I’m running for 30 minutes. For now I can only do light walking to not overwork my heart while getting used to the medicine.

Will continue praying for you and your family.

As far as medical advice, don’t be afraid to challenge the doctors and ask for second opinions. Texas Medical Center in Houston has world class hospitals. Don’t know where you live, but go to the best, wherever it may be located. Too many people I know have messed up by relying on local doctors (reference to no particular city).

You have prayers from me but more importantly you have prayers from the missus. Those carry some weight.

Were you diagnosed with HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy)? My FIL was diagnosed about 2 years ago. He tried medication, but inevitably needed surgery. He had his myectomy in July at Tufts in Boston. He is a new man. He was able to get in touch with the HCM foundation and they helped him find a surgeon at an HCM Center of Excellence. There is also a wonderful facebook group for those with HCM and their families. Feel free to send me a message should you wish some more information.

My FIL also went for a second opinion as the news struck him much like it did you. Don't let someone else's feelings dictate how you take care of yourself.

When my own son struggled with an undiagnosed illness, I apologized to his Dr. for seeking a second opinion, but her response was great. She said she was glad to have the help in figuring his case out and that it's never an insult to pursue the absolute best you can for yourself.

Prayers sent.

Nope, dilated cardiomyopathy is what my diagnosis is. Never drink, never smoke, and no blockages at all. Blood pressure is consistently 120/70. It’s crazy.

Praying for you bud. One of my best friends is your age and was diagnosed with the same thing a few years ago as a young healthy mother. She is doing great but has gone through a lot. Do everything to survive and like others have said, keep praying!

ETA: hers was also contracted via some random virus while she was pregnant.
