That was baton use as taught in training. Target non lethal parts of the body, solid strikes with control, induce pain that overrides the suspects desire or ability to resist/fight. The suspect was resisting if not outright fighting. That's good stick work all day every day as per the rules. You don't have a clue what you're yapping about hero. Fwiw, women amd children can and often injure officers while resisting at a rate similar to men.

No intention of trying it but is it that hard to roll-over and put your hands behind your back? Seemed like he needed a lot of help and encouragement.

Agree, I would say perhaps a little less of the sticks here but I'm for more of this in France/Europe.

Since 1980 though management roles for years now. I've taught it, used it and managed use of force oversight. The goal is to bring an end to the resistance/fight, use the force necessary to accomplish the task and upon doing so render aid of needed. Tazers are popular because going hands on is dangerous to the police and suspect. You use the tools you carry, in this case the baton.

I don't have a problem with cops beating the crap out of people when deserved. And I don't know the full context of this video, but it's a bad look when three guys are standing around while one weak arse female is wrestling with the suspect. That big boy with the potato gun could have easily stuck his knee in that guy's back and ended that whole thing

I have a problem with anyone getting beat. Good policing practiced correctly doesn't involve beating people. That video did not involve police beating the suspect. With that said, everyone there had a role. Bodycam review and other video available such as this one will determine what was correct, what was not correct and what could have been done better based on training. The entirety of the complaint, start to finish, will be critiqued. Every documented use of force is reviewed by a panel. I speak only to the remarks that the baton use was excessive.and the uneducated comments of what and who constitutes a threat.

You win 180° on your initial statement but ok.

We also didnt see the whole video.

Apparently, de-escalation had gone out the window at that point.

I have a bigger problem with people that think the rules do not apply to them. That is the issue that typically leads to the referenced beatings.

This is not true.

You routinely do not know what the hell you're talking about.

Titanium has more effect on a joint than wood does. You also do not have to expand them to use them for pain compliance. And can use them for simple things--unexpanded--as bending a joint into a position that you need to be like an elbow, a shoulder or a wrist.
