Another reason I've probably gone to my last festival. More & more are adding rap acts to draw crowds - in large part crowds I definitely don't want to be around

Nah.

I'm just sorry you never got to see someone like EWF, who could put on a stage show and play awesome music.

12+brothers on stage knocking the shite out of the park for 2 hours.

But now, pass

There’s a reason why shite like Lazy Boy chairs, elastic jeans and church is out there. Keeps the poor weirdos out the venues and with the rest of the mouth breathers where they belong. Imagine taking pride in not appreciating art, truly sad gluttonous humans.

Small venues are where it's at. I haven't seen an arena/stadium show in years and don't have the desire to do so.

100%. Saw Tab Benoit at the Funky Biscuit and at the Capitol Theater (Tampa) within the last year. Best concerts I have ever been to and one of the most under rated experiences.

I’d rather spend my money on a concert than a sporting event. I took off work and I spent about $300 at the Bama game last year and to sit in the rain and watch an arse beating then I had to sit in traffic for hours when I could’ve been getting paid to watch it and I could’ve turned it off when I wanted.

I did the same and it was brutal, but I still like going to big college football games. those terrible experiences make the good ones that much sweeter.

personally, there's something about an unexpected win, a comeback, a Heisman moment performance, or a great finish that can't really be replicated by a concert. 2019 Florida, Oklahoma, and Clemson were all incredible. 2014 Ole Miss and even 2022 Ole Miss were great.

I honestly don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t go see live music. It’s a great excuse to travel and see new places and meet new people and get my cup filled all the way up.

I genuinely feel sorry for people who don’t have a tribe they can regularly commune with. It’s the best feeling you can have

I went to a concert last night and had a great time. It was outside and the weather was perfect. Saw Paul Simon a couple of weeks ago and that was also an amazing night. I guess live music isn’t for everyone but I love it.

Chasing epic guitar players is a fun hobby!! I am so comfortable just hanging out with Deadheads in Vegas its was like we had known each other our wholes lives. Amazing. Same with Billy Strings crew as well.

A smokey bar room with someone far too talented to play such a small venue is awesome. Totally different experience than a stadium concert, which is universally horrible.

Best $200 I've ever spent

eta: they give you your money's worth too. played for like 3 hours. concessions were obscenely priced though.

I've seen a few huge shows over the years like Pink Floyd, Metallica, and Rolling Stones. They were cool and I in no way regret going to them. i wouldn't pay what those types of acts command today, though. I paid 30 bucks to see Pink Floyd in 1994, for example. At current prices for those types of shows? Overrated as frick.

$800 a ticket for nosebleeds last time Metallica came through. Go frick yourselves douchebags..

On the other end of the spectrum, I picked up three tickets for a current popular (relatively, for their genre) band for $180, recently, all fees included, and not paying an arm and a leg enhances the whole thing for me, so not over rated.

the great thing about Springsteen was his ability to bring the vibe/feel/ambiance of a club show to an arena. You felt close to the stage, no matter how far up in the stands you were. That experience transcended the band, his singing voice, etc...

Not in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s. Top talent routinely came through Jackson, Miss. We had a fricking blast.

Concerts yes.

Shows in small venues. No. Those are great.
