yeah well I saw Jeff Lynne play back in October and I already don't remember what I spent. But I saw Jeff Lynne and I do remember that.

Agreed. I’ve never really enjoyed them but I know I’m in the minority.
John Lennon talked about how Paul was always jealous of George b/c he had seen Buddy Holly on his only UK tour, but Paul hadn't.

John however claimed seeing someone in concert meant nothing to him, and as long as he had the record that was the important thing, not seeing them live.

Not sure I believe that, and as John was known to change his mind on a dime I'm not sure it matters anyway.

It doesn't help that I've gotten where I hate big crowds at this point in life. I actively avoid them when I can. You'd have to pay me 10k to go to the Quarter on Fat Tuesday. I did it voluntarily when I was 22

Small venues are where it's at. I haven't seen an arena/stadium show in years and don't have the desire to do so.

I always hated them

I might go to a club or ballroom type place now, but I've probably attended my last festival

A concert in a small venue like Chelsea’s with some room to move and short beer lines is great.

Major headliners in a packed house is a pain in the dick

Glad I grew up in the 70's. Concert road trips were the norm. Big shows for a fraction of today. Better shows, too.

My first concert, I was in 5th grade which was either 1988 or 1989 and it was Poison.. Quiet Riot opened up for them. I was a huge Poison fan and my mom told me if made all As or something she would buy me tickets to the Poison concert.. Which was a rare thing for my parents to do. I still believe she made me that offer not expecting me to make all As..

I still remember Bret Michaels coming out and saying "fricking Baton Rouge!!!" and the crowd going insane, but its funny you mention the 70s because on Good Friday my brother in law was telling me about a Queen Concert he went to and he said it was one of the most memorable experiences of his life.

Who did you all get to see?

Jeff Lynne is a perfectionist and his shows are awesome. Not overpriced for what you get.

I'm going to two WSP shows this weekend. We don't want your kind there to be perfectly honest.

My favorite concerts were the ones when I was in college at the Varsity. Seeing unknown bands just starting out that later got big. White Zombie, Blind Melon, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Living Color, etc. Always had a good time. Last concert I bought tickets for was Shinedown and it got cancelled because of Covid. I’m not much for crowds anymore.
