my two cents is that the guy is just a hillbilly rube that probably just has no filter and meant no disrespect, if you asked the girl she’d probably either be indifferent or maybe thought it was funny, I could be wrong though
This is almost assuredly the case

This is my take as well. It doesn't exonerate him, but I think he is harmless.

Thats a college student athlete talking to a grown woman. Not exactly the same as some geezer and a high school student. “Arent you pretty” would have been more appropriate than calling someone young enough to be your granddaughter “hot.”
So not diminishing in the context of her being there to work and not be pretty?

You should probably take a seat over there.

don’t think he should be tarred and feathered over it though, our society really needs to lighten up a bit with the over sensitivity, imo

Since you brought up the context of what they were doing when the creep called a girl hot to make it "diminishing," how would you say it compares to this situation?
similar i guess, because i am skeptical that he did that accidentally.

It's ok to say that complimenting a woman's appearance isn't diminishing.

Amazing that you can say this and not get blasted with downvotes

it's not black and white. context matters.

I find it very interesting you say this to me while agreeing with 777

haha why? i am only disagreeing with you regarding the specific situation and the word "diminishing". i do think it was diminishing. i dont think he intended it to be.
i also dont think it's a big deal....like at all (which ties into your other point which is that whoever said that was being dramatic and sensationalistic, most likely for political reasons).

I bet she wove a tapestry of subject-verb agreement that, as far as we know, is still hanging in space over Washinton County.

Looking into it a bit more, I saw the following quote from the guy that started the removal petition:
quote:
Keith Ervin has taken full advantage of his position way too many times and it needs to end here. The positions they hold are a privilege and they have done nothing but abuse the power and make the moral values of the school board non existent
Me thinks this is a personal beef with this guy, as well as Boyd, and this "incident" is just the excuse to file the petition. Because I still see no reason Boyd would be included based on this event.

The Change.org website is focusing on Boyd also

Jerry Boyd, the superintendent present at the meeting, laughed at this utterly disrespectful remark.

didnt he say it when she was done making all of the points she was there to make?
maybe it wasn't about her appearance but about how she did in her presentation of material she was there to present.
