“While our study was observational and does not definitively confirm an association between GLP-1 medications and reduced breast cancer incidence, it does add to the growing body of evidence suggesting that it’s worth investigating these weight-loss drugs as potential cancer prevention tools,” lead researcher Dr. Elizabeth McDonald said in a news release. She’s a professor of radiology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine in Philadelphia.

Makes sense when you consider the statistics.
Estrogen-based breast cancer is the largest breast cancer subtype (I think as high as 3/4s of breast cancers are estrogen based). Fat tissue has aromatase (enzyme) that converts androgens into estrogen. Resulting in more estrogen localized in fatty tissue. More estrogen = more opportunity to develop estrogen based breast cancer.
I imagine the GLP is also lowering systemic inflammation with weight loss and lowering insulin levels (we know that can feed some cancers).
