Queer was derogatory back in my day, but now it seems that it’s actually a preferred term. However I don’t even know what it refers to anymore. From what I can tell it simply refers to a “weirdo” now.

They will ban something else later. They are going the black route and changing every so often to get offended by anyone that doesn’t catch on quick enough. Getting attention thru being offended is the biggest motivation behind using “they”.

Every time a term offends someone, they have to change the term.
