Giving the wife a day off for Mother’s Day.

Is this passive aggressively showing her that her job isn’t that hard? How would I feel if she cut the grass and earned more money at work for a Father’s Day present?

Something you will never be again if you follow through with this plan.

"having the day off" should also come with a spa package. Since we are in the midst of covid shutdowns you can't really do that.

Is your wife your mother too?

"having the day off" should also come with you cooking and cleaning (mopping floors, laundry, the bathrooms) while I binge watch TV and drink mimosas like you binge watch sports and drink beer
I would go for this if the spa package was not available

Isn't that what girlfriends and conferences in vegas are for?

You cut grass for a living and work on Sunday’s? And she is still with you?! She deserves a lot more than a “day off”

Being thoughtful and selfless is the key to a good marriage. I always give my wife the day off on Mother's Day, as long as she gets everything done on Saturday. I'll even let her pick the beer we drink and which sporting event to watch, too.
Make sure you treat your special lady like she is the center of the universe this Sunday, fellas...

I’m just trying to find a Mother’s Day present. I usually get her a gift basket of soaps from that place in the mall but they’re closed.

Being a mother is the most difficult job on the planet Oyster.

I am not sure what you mean by giving her a day off. If you mean letting her take a vacation from her paying job then I don’t see the problem. If you mean giving her a day off from chores that’s a good idea, but most men already do chores, so that wouldn’t be much of a gift.
As for cutting grass, I would not like her cutting the grass at all. Cutting grass and grilling are mine. If she wants to do some other chores I handle like put up dishes or fold towels or make the beds or take out trash I’d be good with that. I am not dusting or washing clothes for her, though. Even on Mother’s Day.

If only someone would create a way for you to sit at your computer and order the same thing and have it delivered to your doorstep.
