Will current employer pay out what is owed?

Already told future employer I will be in their office on the morning of the 25th to fill out paperwork

I'd have waited until after Memorial Day.

Yes. 2 years worth. Any GIS work or software testing going on there?

I really don't care about that $ but I'm sure he will. Already put off my new job for 4 weeks. They would like me to be in corpus as we speak signing paperwork.

That's just where they are headquartered. I'll be on the rig for about a year and then move into the Houston office most likely where I will monitor all the rigs remotely

Would they feel the same way if your company laid you off? No.

I've had the ability to be on both sides of this. I can tell you, it's always the person who is putting in their 2 weeks who's worried. Don't want to destroy work partnerships, friendships, etc.

However, usually, the company couldn't give 2 shits. The only time I've seen one genuinely care, is when the owner died, resulting in the company starting to fold about 6 months later. That time I felt what we had to do was a lot more emotional because we weren't in there to fire someone for subpar performance or anything else.

This makes a big difference and you going into a completely different field makes it easier on him. It's not like you going to the competition. I'm sure he's left a job to better himself or to start his own company, he'll understand.

Sounds like you have it pretty well figured out.

Good luck in Corpus and with your new position.

Farrah Fawcett was from them parts if I recall correctly...

Hopefully it's something local there in the water or such.

If the rolls were reversed he they would cut you without hesitation. Plus if you are so valuable they should have made it where you wouldn't be looking for another job.

I'll post my phone number, if you're OK with that.

Get over the "feelings" and understand there was a reason you were looking. You need to worry about where you are going in your life/career, not who is behind you.

You can always offer to consult for a fee for them when you leave if they need you that bad.

Baton rouge.
It takes 3 mins to make a new email just for this. I'm not calling you. I don't want you to have my number.

I don't care how nice he seems. It's a business decision. If the company had to lay you off, he would. You have to do what's good for you. Nothing personal. Business.
