Career-
I am 60 days into marriage and she moved cross country with no job here to be with me. I can alway start over at Hilton or Holiday Inn. My wife rocks and is sexy as hell.
I am a college professor.

My wife is hot and awesome
I'm quite fond of my SO, but this portion of the OP gives me pause:

You can’t use any of your education or training in your new field.
The frick kind of offerings are there for an attorney if I'm barred from using any of my education or training in my new field? I guess doing math in a cubicle?

Flipping burgers.

Meh, I’ve always thought about med school. We’d be broke as frick for 15 years, but since it’s a hypothetical I’m factoring in that we’d win a small lottery to hold us over

Give up wife assuming she's the one forcing you to choose. You can give up your career and keep her, but once she's given one absolute ultimatum and won, it'll easier to force another one later.

Otherwise, the question wouldn't come up.

Ask me this question in 10 years when sex bots are even more realistic.

Career, super easy answer.
If you married the right person it should be a no brained. Money doesn’t buy happiness. And a career can bring satisfaction and happiness for sure if you love your job, but if you married someone you truly love it will never bring remotely the amount of happiness and love that she will.

Your career better be well compensated. She is getting half

Winning the lottery might change the calculus, because otherwise, the thought of adding a cool quarter mil to my already sizable student loan balance makes me nauseated

This is a catch-22. Give up your career, and you’ll lose your wife too
Posted on 1/29/19 at 11:43 am to Grasshopper
You can't have an awesome wife and awesome job. You can only have one or the other.

Weird question, if it wasn’t your wife demanding you to give up your career, you have a high chance of losing her as well by randomly stopping what you worked hard to achieve and starting over.
