I’m tired of crappy Coleman $35 Academy hard sided coolers and want a quality replacement. I own a Yeti roadster and I hardly ever use it because it’s heavy and doesn’t hold that much. My wife gave me a large soft sided Yeti that we returned because I didn’t think we needed a soft sided cooler that big.

I’m looking for a mid size, hard sided cooler that isn’t too heavy. It’s not for outdoors, just for road trips or when I have friends over. I’ve read articles giving recommendations, but you never know agendas.

TIA

Any reasonably priced igloo should be fine.

For the social status sticker that other motorists can read.

I have an imitation yeti (Ozark Trails) from Walmart. This one holds about 20 beers and ice. It will keep ice several days. They make bigger and smaller ones. I think it was like $60-70.

It's like TD Platinum. It comes with all kinds of secret perks you don't know about until you get one.

Just bought a Blue cooler with wheels. In the $200s. Rotomolded and seems solid. Nice little surprise of a coffee mug inside.

I got an unmentionable OB Special on the first shipment which has no name but is as good as anything. Real world example. I drove 2,100 miles beginning at 4 am Friday and ending last night, Sunday, at 6:30. I precooled the cooler with 2 bags of ice overnight before I left, dumped that and put in three 18 pound vending machine bags leaving town, and dumped the remaining ice out of the cooler this morning, three days later.

The name doesn’t matter. A heavy cooler is totally worth it when you need it.

But I don’t take it fishing. Too heavy for that.

Go to the nearest Academy and check out the cooler section....they have a whole wall of every conceivable size make and model...if you can’t find one there, you don’t really need a cooler.

We use the igloo with the wheels way more than the off brand yeti that barely holds anything and is heavy.

I have the one you pictured, it lives in the back of my truck, no one steals Ozark Trail and it does a good job, perfect of ball park weekends.

We usually throw it in the back of my truck on road trips and whatnot. I certainly wouldn't want to carry it a long distance full of ice and drinks.

You're right about the thieves too I've left that thing in the bed of my truck for weeks at a time

I have a yeti that was a gift. Usually, when I go camping it's some out of the way place where ice is difficult to get once you are there. It's really good at storing ice that I can use in another bigger, cheaper cooler. I've used other brands of the same type of cooler and they did just as well as the yeti.

someone should have slapped me in the face when I paid $380 for a yeti bag cooler...

didn't even keep it very cold for as long as it should have.

I'm done with Yeti.
