Parkview also likes money more than the Catholics lol. It's just plain more expensive to send kids to Parkview than St. George.

Parkview too expensive, but wants to send them to Ulab.

Admitting your kids into a Catholic school when you’re not Catholic is your first mistake. Conflict is inevitable. As for University Lab school, good luck.

My wife and have struggled with this as well. Neither of us were raised Catholic but we have a kid in BR private and pretty much all of them are Catholic.

Tuition at U-Lab is like $5k per kid. St. George is $7500 per after fees. Parkview is $11k.

Just checked them all...

You are thinking about it the wrong way. I’m a Chreaster Catholic for the most part and went to Catholic school most of my life but not all as we moved around a lot. If there’s a nun or priest or someone in the Church teaching the religious class it could pretty hardcore Catholic, otherwise it’s likely taught very lightly. They aren’t telling your elementary school kids they are going to hell for not being Catholic, lol.

My freshmen year of HS I had a great religious teacher in Catholic school and she was much more matter of fact just be a good person then be a hardcore Catholic.

But long story short, take what they say to you as learning lessons for them and let them make their own decisions. I think you’d be best served just explaining your own beliefs and allow them to learn and accept what they want from there.

In defense of Healing Place, it’s the only megachurch I know of whose pastor drives a 90s era Honda.

That’s not true. I have a child that went to st George for kindergarten and she got in the lab school for first grade. We are not elite. I love both schools and miss St George.

Well that's encouraging. Which one do you think is better of the two?

just my experience the lab school is a little more demanding in the classroom in elementary and the teachers are a little better. Mine was slightly behind coming from st George, but they also like them a little older at the lab. I think if they stay in the catholic system though that Catholic High and St Joseph’s may be better. I kind of miss the religion portion of school. Either way both are are great in my opinion.

Anyone have any experience or knowledge about U-High admissions?

I can tell you it's easier to let them ask questions about weird Catholic shite than to get them in U-High. I can also tell you that entire campus is a cult that's worse than Catholicism.

This one hits a lot of the OT trigger points. Would be nice if you could also work travel ball and pit bulls into it.

It’s harder to break in when you are not doing it in kindergarten. They would need a child to leave for yours to take their place. And they used to have to be the same gender. It took mine two years to get in and that was with a letter of recommendation from one of the LSU Board of Supervisors members. Best move we ever made.

2nd grader and kindergartener at St. George. We're not Catholic though

1st of all, who do you know to get both of your kids into St George not being a parishioner, or even Catholic?????

There’s MANY registered/financial parishioners who’s kids are on the waitlist to get a spot at St.George....

From a parent POV, I’d be pissed if I attended that church, and my kids were waitlisted, while non-Catholics were selected over mine...

Simply depends on number of available spots and your worth to the school. Some of that is based on your kid, some of it based on who you know that can put in the word.. the number of spots available decides the curve on that scale
