Drunkenness and responsible employment are a very poor mix.

If you’re gonna hoot with the owls at night you gotta soar with the eagles in the morning

At my old company we had a saying "We don't make much, but we eat and drink good." Our expense accounts were very liberal, so it was open bar every night.

At my 2 week induction graduate session one of the guys got black out drunk and shite the bed, missed the first two hours of one of the session.
Still with the company 10 years later.
However there was a conversation held by the trainers with all the attendees about standards.

I don't party, but I can't stand the idea of just hanging in my hotel room. That seems sad.
I'll find stuff to do, and I definitely would prefer to watch a game at a bar with people vs. in my room. I'd much rather go to a restaurant than get room service. I'm not going to retreat to my room if co-workers, partners, or customers are doing stuff.

McDonalds don't offer travel trips.

Verbatim from my old boss's mouth to my ears. That man showed me how to travel/work/party. We never missed a meeting, never had to belie our hangover and got our shite done.
RIP, Mike B.

When I was younger and working on job sites with my dad.
A old leather face painter told me he liked to drink paint thinner after work.
He’d pour it through a loaf of wonder bread to filter it and drink what came out on the other side.
Said it gave him a good buzz.
Can you imagine doing that every night and then getting up to work? Damn it man…

I remember those days. After LSU I settled with a company on the verge of digital electronic publishing. After a couple of years in the shop I was put on the trail to expand the desktop publishing era. I would travel a loop that went from BR, Jax, Oxford, Memphis, Tupelo, Columbus, Starkville, Mobile, then NOLA and back to home at that time Prairieville. I even spent a few days in Pine Bluff, AR. Do not recommend it.
I got laid many times on those trips. But the best was when the road trips ended and I was asked to spend half my days in Jackson in a corporate apartment. I'd stay there 2-3 days a week and return home. So I had a frick buddy in Jackson, one in BTR and another FWB in NOLA that eventually turned into my wife.
Yes drinking was part of the journey. Just had to stay this side of soberness to make the next drive.

There's a place for that sort of thing and it's called the United States Navy.
