Stopping a lane of traffic on a busy arterial road to pick up a single scraggly looking guy isn't worth the delay and risk to it other drivers and cost to the property owners.

Supposedly they are going to start a ride share service with vans. Maybe that will decrease the number of buses needed.

Touted as “microtransit,” a pilot program featuring a fleet of 15-passenger vans could be up and running within 90 days.
In a change of pace from traditional public transit, riders in the program will hail rides through a smartphone app, with drivers able to pick up and drop off other riders along the way.
Locations covered by the program have yet to be determined, with areas not currently serviced by existing bus routes to serve as likely starting points.

Is it that hard to not hit a 60 foot 10 ton bus that is going 0 mph?

It's more so the drivers who have to stop behind the bus, then quickly cut to the other lane to pass it.

If you racist nimbys would overcome your fear of urban people and used needles and shared the bus the environment would be a lot better off

Agreed. CATS busses are big part of the reason why there is so much traffic on Bluebonnet. And we supplement CATS with our taxes even though I have never stepped foot on a CATS bus.

The other day i was behind one on sherwood forest north of I12. there is a stop right there in front of the taco bell. then they went to the next stop in front of then shell station NEXT DOOR. its roughly 200 feet apart on google maps. ridiculous
and one person getting on the 2nd stop was disabled and in a wheel chair. it took THREE light cycles for them to clear the stop

Ironic to me that the public van users will use their smartphones to fetch a ride.
