hat's right behind Jim Lu corner store on Government. That's a rough neighborhood. There's been many shootings over the years at that store.

That’s the little building that looks like an old Fast Track, right? It used to say “Fried Tuckey Wings” on the side. That’s not my typo, it was theirs.

If so, I found myself at about 1:55 am one morning/night needing vodka and I was right there and it was my last chance before the 2:00 a.m. hit so I stopped. EVERYTHING is behind the counter. You walk in and it’s basically a teller behind plexiglass.

I've always wondered what the inside of Jim Lu looked like. Sounds about what I pictured.

Yeah it’s basically a dangerous, over complicated vending machine

Yep, that’s the place. I got a pint of Taaka there in 2002 or so. Ended up being a good investment but I’m not sure I’d do it again.

No sane person just shoots another, so as always, there is probably more to this story.

Is that a good price for ciggies?

Here comes an old fart comment:

"I can remember when they were 30 cents a pack"

Oh, and when they gave you a fourpack in your c-rations! Not always your brand, but always tasty.

I can recall 5 or 6 murders at that place. I can only imagine what their average customer looks like.

I was a smoker when I was younger. They were $1.75 or so. I think they're $6-7 now for premium brands.

If this really is a customer/panhandler shooting, then this is just the result of local leadership failing yet again.

This shite has gone on for years. We ask them to do something about it, over and over. Time after time, they tell us nothing can be done.

This is the result of leadership that fails do do what it’s constituents ask for, no matter how bad they want it.

We want the panhandling problem addressed and fixed, damn it.

I hope this is the case. It may actually make a bit of dent in the problem of panhandlers in BR. I doubt it, but it may make at least a few of them think twice.

It's not really the panhandlers that are the real problem in Baton Rouge. It's the guy who drives them around the city and picks them up and takes a cut of what they make. If that guy were to "fall down some stairs" and have to eat and shite through a tube for six months, I bet the panhandling problem magically disappears.

It’s fixed when liberal white fricks stop rolling their windows down to hand them money.

Right or wrong- If panhandlers start getting shot, "leadership" will be forced to address it

If you shoot a kid with a wiffle ball bat because you feel threatened, the jury would determine if a reasonable person would consider a child wielding a wiffle ball bat to be capable of great bodily harm.

Right. It doesn’t matter how scared/threatened you felt; it matters whether or not you should have felt scared/threatened.

You your actual fear/threat assessment of a kid with a whiffle ball bat is immaterial.

It’s a combo subjective / objective standard.

1) were you personally in fear of your life, the life of another or of either of you receiving heat bodily harm; and

2) Would the reasonable person have the same fear under the same circumstances.

The wiffle ball bat gets a “no” on the second part, and as a result it’s not a legitimate defense to the use of force.

I’ve been waiting for this to happen. It was inevitable.
